The much anticipated sequel to the PlayStation classic Horizon Zero Dawn gets a release date of February 18, 2022. This is shared by Mathijs de Jonge, Game Director at Guerrilla in a blog post in the PlayStation blog.
De Jonge narrates that although they had passed a major milestone around the time they showed a gameplay trailer during State of Play and had entered the final stage of development, the global pandemic, adjusting to new workflows, protocols and other challenges had hugely impacted the team.
With that, the long-awaited sequel is coming to both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on February 18, 2022. Pre-orders start next week on September 2, 2021. “While the decision to move the game’s launch to 2022 certainly wasn’t easy, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our fans for their unwavering support; we know how much you’ve been looking forward to reuniting with Aloy and her friends,” says de Jonge, “continuing her story, and exploring a new and more dangerous world. Your passion, fan art, cosplay, virtual photography, and videos have meant the world to all of us.”
The developers have also dropped a patch on PS5 for Horizon Zero Dawn so that they can enjoy 60 FPS as a free update.
