Hallohallo Entertainment Inc., operator of MNL48, the sister group of the number one idol group in Japan, AKB48, proudly announced that MNL48 official Facebook page has reached over 600,000 of fans and continues to grow rapidly. Among other sister groups of AKB48, MNL48 is in the second place for the most number of followers on Facebook following JKT48’s Facebook page with almost 4 million likes. AKB48’s Facebook page on the other hand has 660,058 followers taking the third place. MNL48 Facebook page was launched on April 2016 for the fans who can’t wait to get updates about the upcoming audition for the MNL48 and other related news and announcements. Since then, it has reached several fans from different countries, aside from the Philippines, including South Korea, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Kuwait, USA, Thailand, and UAE.
Despite the fact that MNL48 has still no members and no announcements were made regarding its audition, its Facebook page is growing at a rate of over 100,000 fans per month according to Facebook analytic. Nobody even knows where the theater will be built and when it will actually open. Some fans even are even speculating that the audition might start when the Facebook page reach 1 million fans (it’s dope, but hey, when you’re starved for news, you make them). Filipinos are suckers for Facebook likes, but any hype must be reinforced by actual events, and here’s hoping we get more news about MNL48 soon.
