The weekend was buzzing over a typo found on ROG’s MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02 Edition wherein instead of “EVANGELION”, the outside trim of the IO shroud spelled it as “EVANGENLION”. Despite me and some other media having access to the board, only China and the US has had this motherboard available on retail along with a few other regions but the for the rest of the world, Asuka’s board hasn’t even left the factory yet as told by our regional ASUS rep. This leaves time for ASUS to correct the issue and fix the typographical error on the motherboard as the company has now reached a resolution on how to handle the matter.

Regarding Misprint on ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02 EDITION
To our valued ASUS Customers,
We have recently received incident reports about the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02 EDITION motherboard regarding the misspelling of the word “Evangelion” on the decorative part located on the left side of the product. We sincerely apologize for any confusion or inconvenience this may have caused.
For users who have already installed the motherboard, it is important to note that the misprint does not affect any functionality or performance. As part of our commitment to resolving this issue, we will extend the warranty by one additional year and implement a replacement program. ASUS will provide a corrected decorative part that end-users can use to replace the misprinted part. If you encounter this issue, please contact your local customer service for more details.

We can confirm that the board has been with customers in the US since last month with users in mainland China following a shortwhile after. Those who who received the motherboard with the typo out of the box will receive a non-negotiable +1 year warranty on top of ASUS’ 3-year motherboard warranty which will apply to all affected motherboards globally. This applies to the ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO EVA-02 already released as well as all fixed releases following after.
ASUS will also be sending out replacement decorative parts that corrects the issue for those that want to fix the spelling.
Other regions have had launch events for the ROG x EVA-02 series but are still awaiting stocks for shipping to retailers.
