Intel has finally lifted the veil on their 9th-gen processors for notebook and mobile platforms and partners are eager to show the public their updated portfolio featuring the new powerhouse CPU. ASUS gave us an early look at some of their models sporting the new Intel CPU and its not just the processor to receive some update.
Intel 9th-Gen CPU for Mobile
As of today, Intel will be releasing six chips for mobile with the top-end Core i9 sitting at the top of the stack. The unlocked Core i9-9900HK features 8-cores and 16-threads with Turbo boost of up to 5.0Ghz. The lineup cascades from there with the Core i7 featuring 6-cores and 12 threads while the Core i5 of the stack featuring 4-cores and 8-threads.
Updated ROG Lineup
ASUS ROG boasts a number of upgrades to its key line of notebooks in the ROG and ROG Strix lineup with updated display panels, new CPUs and some new features.
ROG new notebook will boast up to 240hz refresh rate screens with 3ms response times. These are the fastest of any laptop to date. Some models will also receive HDR panels with Pantone validation as well as some with 4K UHD resolution and G-Sync. The new 9th-gen CPUs offer around 10% performance improvement while having better efficiency overall.
ROG Zephyrus S GX502

The new ROG Zephyrus S GX502 joins the fray featuring a brand new design. The new Zephyrus S GX502 brings its keyboard and touchpad layout to a more traditional design. Active Aerodynamic Cooling is still present on this model.
Specs-wise, ASUS ROG announced an RTX 2070 variant with a Intel 9th-gen CPU. The GX502 will also sport the new 240Hz IPS-level display with Pantone validation.
ROG Zephyrus M GU502

A sort of twin model of the GX502, the new Zephyrus M GU502 also features the same 9th-gen Intel CPU with a GTX 1660 Ti graphics. Type-C charging is a welcome feature that allows it to be charged with a smaller power source for non-gaming use. Dual M.2 NVMe SSDs in RAID0 are used for storage duties. Audio features an ESS Sabre DAC. The chassis features a reinforced magnesium alloy which gives it a soft touch feel.
ROG Strix SCAR III / Hero III

The esports-tuned ROG Strix SCAR III and Hero III models from ASUS are the latest iteration of this popular models. The new design theme features color variations of Gunmetal Grey and Midnight black. The design also incorporates a 3D Flow Zone and a asymmetric lid cut-out for increased airflow.
Screen options for these models still meet esports standard with the 15″ models rocking the new 240Hz panel while the 17″ model sporting a 144hz panel.

A new feature for the SCAR III and Hero III is the Keystone: an accessory that plugs into the laptop and allows unprecedented personalization including Game Profile management, light effects and Shadowdrive. Shadowdrive is an encryption feature that allows drives to be only accessible via the ROG Strix’s Keystone.
ROG Strix G G531 & G731

Another new lineup from ASUS is the ROG Strix G lineup. Available in both 15″ and 17″ models, this lineup is focused on performance and design. Specs include Intel 9th-gen with GTX 1660 Ti or GTX 1650. Display is available at 120hz and features slim bezels.
One of the most noticeable features is the Aura Sync wrap-around bar on the base of the unit. Provides great ambiance as well as style.
ROG Zephyrus S GX531 & GX701

The flagship slim variants of the ROG, the Zephyrus S GX531 and GX701 also receive updates. Aside from the 9th-gen Intel CPU refresh, the newer models will sport either an HDR 144hz screen with HDR 400 certification or the new non-HDR 240hz on the GX531.
ROG Mothership Gz700

Lastly, we have the ROG Mothership. Announced during CES, the final model has yet to be announced but ASUS’ recent announcement has cemented the ROG Mothership to be equipped with Intel top-end, unlocked Intel Core i9-9900HK. Liquid metal will be used for better heat transfer and is applied via EMS machine.
Display options include 4K 60Hz at 100% Adobe RGB certification or a standard FHD screen with 144hz refresh rate with 3ms response time.
The ROG Mothership will be available soon in the Philippines.
