In a published Competition & Markets Authority report regarding NVIDIA’s $40 billion acquisition of Arm, the UK regulators have cited that this company acquisition has “significant competition concerns” and details of the entire report can be seen here. The CMA report lists multiple industrial aspects that would theoretically be affected when the merger occurs.
The CMA summarizes their concern in the report by saying:
1.13 Competitive assessment: The CMA has concluded that the Merger gives rise to a realistic prospect of an SLC within a market or markets in the United Kingdom (UK) and that the test for reference is met on competition grounds.
NVIDIA has responded to the report and states:

Entities in the UK have been lobbying to have this merger blocked. Despite Arm being owned by Japanese company SoftBank, part of their merger agreement was maintaining Arm’s HQ in the UK, something not outlined in NVIDIA’s purchase from SoftBank. Many UK entities have voiced similar sentiments to the NVIDIA-Arm merger with many questioning NVIDIA’s motives in general.
