A previously reported mining farm seized by the Ukranian Security Police (SBU) for being illegally connected to the power grid and stealing power from the provider to increase profitability and has also caught the attention of many internet users by having a supposed “PS4 mining farm” due to the large number of Playstation 4s in the facility.
A total of 3800 Playstation 4 units were found in the mining facility together with mining hardware of 500 GPUs wired to 50 CPUs. The assumption was the Playstation 4 machines were being used for mining.
Delo.ua has published an investigation that further looked into the case which has been somewhat sensationalized by outside media. A source inside the SBU has offered this statement to Delo.ua:
“It is on the PlayStation was well organized Leveling bot for FIFA And then selling them.”
A levelling bot farm are basically offeres high-level accounts for sale, for whatever reason a player may want them. Account selling has been in existence nearly since the inception of MMO games. This removes the tedious grind required to reach an xxx amount of levels to achieve something in game.
It is unsure what profitability the FIFA bot farm has but its enough to warrant a large investment from the bot farm owners. The facility still stole power illegally which is their primary offense and will face sizable fines and a possible jail time of up to 3 years.
