If you’re looking for more reasons to rationalize video gaming to your parents, spouse or girlfriend (or boyfriend) I guess this latest news would probably give you more plus points for the “Video Games are good” faction of the argument.
The US Navy (yes dem gaiz) will be opening a MMO that circles around piracy, no, not the pirate’s of the intarwebs, but pirates in real life. Yes, pirates are real, and no, pirates are not as fabulous or funny as cap’n Jack Sparrow. Because real life pirates are dangerous contrary to how Hollywood paints it.
The game which is currently called The Massively Multiplayer Online WarGame Leveraging the internet or MMOWGLI (which I lovingly call the mmo wogli) is set to be launched next week which aims to help the Navy think of “out of the box” ways in handling pirates and possibly getting more unique ways in dealing with them.
I’m actually happy because people are now finding ways to using video games into a public service device. Hopefully the US Navy would get something useful out of this MMO.
We’ll be on top of this once the game is released.
