THE TORTURE VIDEO & CONCLUSION
Not counting the takes we didn’t include in the video, I’d say we dropped the ADATA DashDrive Durable HD710 for more than 50-times. The standard drop test we did at 3-feet similar to a situation where it just falls out of your hands… more than once. After which we took the HD710 to the garden, smudged it in the dirt… and stepped on it… like an idiot. To wrap things up, we just washed the HD710 under some hot running water. The basketball scene we just included for fun, since portable hard drives don’t really make very good basketball… balls.
In all seriousness, the video gives us a glimpse of how impressive and durable ADATA has made their HD710. So let’s move on to our closing remarks and break down the scores.
Starting with performance, the ADATA DashDrive Durable HD710 scores an average 8 for its read/write performance. Build quality scores a perfect 10 BUT we are docking a minor .2 points for the construction and retention of the rubber padding. Not being sealed shut to the enclosure means it can get lodged with water and debris over time which really take away from the quality of the drive. Also, the HD710’s cable doesn’t have tethered caps that would’ve proven useful given the marketing of water resistance as the ports can and will corrode.
Moving on, we have functionality getting a solid 9, a point shy away from perfect due to the fact that the drive trails in mixed-file writes making it a not so good choice for people who use it for that kind of situation. Bundle is below average with barely nothing include aside from the product so we give it an okay 7.5. Last up is value with an excellent score of 9 for being able to endure punishing scenarios and still keep on ticking making sure the consumer’s data is safe-guarded from harm thus giving it extra points for value.
In closing, we are just blown away by the endurance of the ADATA DashDrive Durable HD710. It manages to hold its own in terms of daily usage and still survive after taking on drop after drop after drop. There is simply nothing else we can say towards the HD710 other than it is one of the most durable pieces of consumer equipment in existence today. Built like a tank, ADATA still backs the HD710 with a 3-year warranty.
We highly Recommend the ADATA DashDrive Durable HD710 and give it our Silver Award.
