CONCLUSION
We’d expected the S102 Pro to at least clear 50MB write performance but it came just a bit under so we’re a bit disheartened that ADATA didn’t make that bit quite clear in their marketing. Regardless though, the read and write speeds are still spot on what we’d like to see from a USB3.0 drive. Small files and random writes is where the S102 Pro stutters but this is really expected even on high-performance segment products. We’d also like to point out that ADATA still has some room to improve on, especially on the design of the S102 as we’ve found the drive to heat up a bit and the lack of an activity LED is a bummer also.
With an expected retail price tag of Php1,500 for the 32GB variant, it surely is up there with other options from other brands and that makes the ADATA S102 Pro USB3.0 flash drive a bit of a tough choice as we can see the likes of Corsair, Kingston and others offer their higher performing flash drives at this range but at lower capacities so ADATA may not have pure performance by its side but it manages to balances it with capacity.
If you’re in the market for a portable storage solution that won’t bust your wallet and should fit in it, too then the ADATA S102 Pro USB3.0 might be a good choice with its balanced appeal of price, performance and capacity all packed in one solid metal frame. We give the S102 our Recommendation!
