I have now a new game that I’m getting addicted to. Turning Melo is an adaptation of a classic pipe game which aims to test your logic, patience and analysis skills. Help Melo find the right path towards the Holy Ruby by tapping on the hexagon tiles that rotate to align the paths.
Â
The game screen includes a top progress bar which indicates the amount of time that you have left for that level. The second line is Melo’s vigor status, this shows how dizzy he is. The three blank ruby slots shows how many you’ve collected for that level so far. In the middle are the hexagonal tiles with the paths that you can tap to rotate. Black tiles are unmovable. Melo is that cute little round guy that moves along the paths.
The game has five stages so far with 10 levels each. Not all the levels are available at once, you have to unlock each consecutive one after completing a level.
There are various difficulties per stage. If you spin Melo too much while he’s on a tile, he gets dizzy and his vigor line will slowly empty out. If Melo gets too dizzy, you fail the level. Getting all three rubies earns you a much higher score.
At the start of each level you can get a tip about overcoming certain obstacles and if you’ve completed the requirements, you can even earn an achievement.
I love that I’ve found a game other than Angry Birds that can get addicting which also hones my brain power and reflexes. It looks simple enough but don’t count it out just yet, take my word that it does provide considerable challenge especially when the paths gets so complex. The graphics are pleasing to the eyes too. Turning Melo is available free for download in the Android Market although it does require a 27MB download.
