There’s no denying the fact that Intel’s latest HEDT processors have been met with lukewarm reception but many who require the platform’s undeniable performance gain still look to it as their system of choice. Many motherboards from the past generation have been churned out and there’s barely anything you can do with the X79 chipset that isn’t present on modern consumer platforms like the Z87 anymore.
Despite that fact, board manufacturers still came up with a couple of new models for this generation of LGA2011 processor and targetting the budget segment looks to be the main priority as we have both MSI and GIGABYTE in the lab today with their offering for the 4th-gen Intel HEDT processors.
For this review we’ll be looking at the GIGABYTE X79 UP4, GIGABYTE’s latest iteration of its X79 offering and probably the last we’ll see from the company.
