Packaging
Ozone went with a most distinct route with their packaging. Instead of the tried and true box, they went with a hexagon-styled container for the neon. Its definitely a nice change from the tried and true boxes, with more sides to display the features as well as marketing propaganda.
Up front is where the product name and the image of the Neon is shown. Near the Neon, the top features of the Neon mouse are listed: The 6400 DPI Laser Sensor, 8 Programmable buttons and the ambidextrous design.
Since this is an oddly shaped container for the Neon, let’s classify them into two side, left and right. For the left side, we have five features of the mouse that are proudly displayed on the side. Next to it is some comments from League of Legends player Choi “DanDy†In-Kyu. Below it are three professional gaming teams that use Ozone Products led by MVP Ozone.
On the right side, we can see the Ozone text in shiny black paint that complements the matte finish of the container. The other side lists the ergonomic design, software, memory, polling and response rate adjustment.
The contents of the Neon packaging contain the following: The Ozone Neon Laser Precision Gaming Mouse, the disc for its software, the manuals on how to install and use the Neon, extra Teflon mouse feet, Â and a sticker of the Ozone Gaming brand to proudly place somewhere. The freebies included in the packaging are complete and goes well with the Neon mouse.
Ozone Neon Precision Laser Gaming
At first glance, the Neon appears to have a lanky design, having a thin but long body that may affect how the user grasps the mouse. This is not a problem when you have long thin arms, but others might experience slight discomfort when using the mouse for long periods of time.
The palm rest features the Ozone logo near the end of the heel, with its color matching the selected color scheme of the Neon (in our case, its colored red).
Up top, there are two clickable buttons and an extra near the mouse wheel that contains an LED light which changes color depending on the DPI Setting that is currently selected for the mouse.
The left side of the mouse contains two buttons on the side. The buttons are easily activated with little force, thus allowing easier and faster reactions when programmed to a different function. On the flip side, since it can be easily activated, it might cause for some epic misplays or errors which is detrimental to your performance. The same can be said for the buttons on the right side of the Neon.
Software
Ozone has been kind enough to include an installer for the software of the Neon. The software has everything that you would need when customizing your Neon to be the mouse that you desire. For each profile, the Neon can hold up to 4 DPI Settings that you can play and experiment with from 200 to 6400 DPI. You can also set the desired mouse sensitivity for each profile, which it can store 5. you can also store to the profiles the programming of the buttons of the Neon. You can change them according to your desired set up, which also serves to help the Ambidextrous design of the Neon. Great software to have that complements the Neon well.
User Experience & Conclusion
The Neon is a very light mouse, thanks to its plastic body. Users can easily move the mouse with little effort, which is both good and bad at the same time. When paired with a smooth surfaced mouse pad, the Neon lets you traverse the length of screen in no time. While this might be great for games that need a lot of mouse movement, its nearly impossible when you need precision. Good thing, though, that you can adjust the sensitivity of the mouse with the software. It more than makes up for its lack of weight and it enables you to actually use the lightness of the mouse to your advantage. To fully use the Ambidextrous design of the mouse, the software helps you out by enabling you to program the buttons of the mouse to suit lefties.
For the price of $68.73 and the number of items and features that it includes, the Neon is a huge bargain that fits in the budget nicely. Its one mouse that should garner the attention of people that are looking for a quality mouse.
Overall, Ozone definitely has made a great mouse with the Neon. It’s a mouse that can hold its own with other gaming mice while giving them body blows with its low price tag. It might seem a bit thin for some users but make no mistake about it, the Neon is one mouse that is very worth it to buy. We here at B2G give the Neon our Recommended and Bronze Awards.
