Packaging

The Rock Series has a green and black flavor to it and that really shows in the packaging of each of the products associated with it. The front of the package is the logo of the Rock Series with the glossy finish. In the center is a great shot of the M09 mouse with green led lighting up.

The left side lists the features of the mouse such as the Adjustable Resolution and Adjustable Report Rate of the M09 mouse among others.

The right side contains the specifications of the mouse and the contents of the package to help keep track of them and return it should there be an anomaly in the contents. The system requirements are also there, with the Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 being a requirement, which is something uncommon for a plug and play mouse.

At the back, is a top view of the M09 Gaming Mouse, with labels describing some of the features such as the forward and back buttons, Adjustable DPI and Report rate and LED Backlight design. The features are also listed here with more detail. Down below is the specs and features written in chinese.

When you flip open the cover, there is an even better shot of the M09 Gaming Mouse at the left side and at the right is the actual product protected by see through plastic.

What’s Inside

Inside the package, you’ll see the Rock M09 Optical Gaming Mouse and the quick-installation manual.

I-Rocks Rock Series M09 Optical Gaming Mouse

The M09 Gaming Mouse is coated with the colors of the Rock Series: Black and Green. The mouse is laced with a rubberized substance that effectively enhanced the grip of the mouse. The palm grip is a bit grayish in color with the Rock Series font that is LED lighted and a silhouette of a wildcat.

In between the left and right buttons is the scroll wheel, which is an LED lighted wheel with the center wrapped in rubber with creases for the grip.

The left side of the mouse has two buttons that are located near the palm grip, and are accessible by thumb. These are forward and backward buttons that makes browsing easier.

At the bottom of the mouse lies the best features: the Adjustable Resolution and Report Rate of the M09. Each of them have three pre-configured settings that is controlled each by a switch. You can adjust them by moving them up or down and align it to the desired setting that you want to use.

The cable is braided with a 180cm length. It has just the right thickness that it easily fits into some tight spaces that your setup might require. At the end is a gold plated USB.

User Experience

For testing, we used the M09 Gaming Mouse while playing League of Legends, as it requires precise and well timed mouse movements. The traction of the mouse was great, especially when paired with a smooth surface, as it literally glides through. And the best part is that it does not lose any accuracy that you’ll need for that game changing play. Even throughout the fast paced game, the mouse is really good at following your movements and placing the cursor where you want to be at all times.

The rubberized palm grip is very effective in keeping your hands steady and cool. It’s relatively small compared to other gaming mice and that really helps in maintaining control of the mouse.

However, the lack of software and the ability to adjust on the fly is what sets the M09 back. A software that would allow the M09’s buttons to be changed to your liking and save the settings for each game would save you a load of time, should you want to change them.

Conclusion

Irocks_M09_Gaming_Mouse_0009

Overall, the I-Rocks Rock Series M09 Optical Gaming Mouse gives you precision, accuracy and a sleek design that gives the user an advantage. The rubberized grip helps to control the M09 and surprisingly does not make your palms sweaty. Precision is the name of the game for the M09 as the adjustable settings helps the user configure the mouse to make it easier for his to control it. Although it has it’s setbacks, like the lack of programmable buttons and ability to adjust on the fly, it does not change the fact that its a quality mouse that is worth every penny. Highly Recommended!
