Venture Electronics Monk Plus Review

The hype is real! You literally haven’t heard “bang for the buck” until you have picked up Venture Electronic’s Monk Plus. Earbuds are rarely known for superb sound quality, but the Monk Plus is not like the rest of them.

Venture Electronics is a Chinese brand with a strong focus and commitment to sound quality. They are known for their affordable and reliable products.

The Monk Plus comes from a basic plastic packaging and it includes two pairs of red and blue foam covers.

For those who came across the VE Monk(1st gen), the Monk Plus is basically an update to the former. The Monk Plus has a balanced and natural sound signature. It’s good for all genres and is basically an all-rounder. Treble is clear and present, without any noticeable peaks or dips. There is no noticeable sibilance, even in sibilant prone tracks.

Mids are a bit forward but mostly neutral. They are full and warm but can get a slightly chesty, but not too much and can get a little shouty at high volumes.

Monk Plus excels the most in vocals and acoustics.  It has smooth and organic timber for both female and male vocals. The transition from the bass and to the treble is impeccable and extremely smooth.

For an earbud, its bass is very impressive. Mid and upper bass is very neutral and is reasonable fast and punchy. Overall the bass is quite clear.

When listening to live recordings, you get the full concert experience. The soundstage is really wide and deep, but in a natural way.

It has superb build quality, solid translucent smoke-tinted housings and a tangle-resistant wire with a straight gold-plated 3.5-millimeter plug. Its Y-split has at a perfect length and it also has an adjustable neck cinch with a visible Venture Electronics logo.

Unlike other cheap earbuds that can be filed under the disposable category, Monk Plus is good for daily use and it could take a beating and still function well.

Some audiophiles even modify the Monk Plus because of it’s superb sound quality squeezing a little bit more from it.
