Of all the industries that have been transformed forever due to the rise of smartphones, the gaming industry has arguably felt a more significant impact than any other. While it is true that the banking industry and social media sector have benefitted unbelievably from the rise of smartphones, the mobile gaming world has added a whole new dimension to its global operation.

With billions of smartphones now available globally, we will examine how smartphone accessibility, product development, and innovation have supercharged the mobile gaming revolution.

Before smartphones, you were restricted to local, land-based casinos. However, you can now check out the best-paying online casino by opening your phone and quickly scanning the available online options.

This groundbreaking development has led to the world of digital casinos becoming highly competitive, with many offering substantial promotional offers to siphon off the highly lucrative global market to their operation.

The Smartphone Golden Age

In the early 2000s, mobile phones became more sophisticated, but they could not connect to the Internet. So, when Apple unveiled the first iPhone in 2007, it was a huge step forward for smartphone quality.

Although previous mobile phones, like BlackBerrys, had Internet capabilities, iPhones were a step up. They also had a new App Store, where people could create and download applications. As Apple became the world’s biggest company, this was primarily fueled by the staggering innovations they continued to push forward in the smartphone and technology sectors.

For example, phones became easier to connect to the Internet, and they became more capable of hosting sophisticated computing gaming graphics and had higher levels of storage, which, again, helped to enhance the acceleration and speed of the mobile gaming revolution.

How Digital Casino Companies Used Smartphones to Their Advantage

One of the reasons smartphones developed into a golden age was the production costs and speed. When Steve Jobs presented the first iPhone to the world in 2007, despite its incredible quality, it was out of price range for many people. However, as Apple started to create more phones and churn them out at an astonishing rate, the price, inevitably, dropped.

Therefore, with more people having access to mobile phones and more phones being able to connect to the Internet, this set the wheels in motion for digital casinos to advertise their operations to tens of millions as the decade progressed.

Other Factors to Consider

This explosion in accessibility is the main driving force behind this smartphone and gaming revolution. However, it is not the only thing to consider. Another critical component stems from the legislation and legalities of gambling in certain areas. The most prominent example is in America, where more states are now warming to regulating digital gambling.

Although California, the biggest American state, recently knocked back a vote to legalize digital gambling, it is widely expected that many states and territories will follow suit within the next few years. Therefore, the market will continue to expand to millions of American customers.

The technology, display quality, and graphics all continue to advance alongside the profits made by the casino industry. This is bringing in some of the world’s top game design companies, who all want to try their hand at developing mobile games given that the possibility of substantial profit margins is well within their grasp.

In essence, all of these positive factors act like an avalanche, and they result in a product that is more engaging, better quality, more inventive, and easier to play.

Accessible Gaming Titles

Some of the most downloaded gaming apps in history are games you don’t need to purchase. They run solely from in-game advertising; some have been downloaded hundreds of millions of times. Although we have focused on digital casino gaming today, the world of mobile gaming and free-to-play games is one of the biggest multimedia markets on the planet.

Given that over half the planet is now estimated to own a smartphone in some capacity, and with more developing countries building better Internet access networks, these games will continue to expand into new countries with larger potential customer bases.

Conclusion

Smartphones haven’t just made mobile gaming more straightforward and sophisticated, every level of our lives has been impacted due to the incredible rise of this sensational technology. As the world continues to lean toward a mobile-first approach, it’s hard to see this revolution losing momentum.

Despite the significant layoffs in tech, the market for mobile gaming continues to stay steady, even in the face of global economic uncertainty. Mobile gaming is here to stay, and there’s no reason why it couldn’t double in size within the next decade if you are to believe some projections.
