Space battles! Aliens! Mechaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaas!
In some far corner of the galaxy, Led / Ledo (however you want to romanize the name) is a member of the space forces meant to combat these aliens hell bent on destroying humanity. Now in this particular mission that they have, they’re kinda doing a do or die thing, intending to destroy the enemy nest by throwing their entire force at them. Hence, sparkly sparkly space action.
But they kinda lose, and so they are asked to pull back. Led tries to fight valiantly to cover for his retreating allies, but soon enough they all need to go back to their carrier ships in order to wormhole their way out of the place. But lo and behold, one of them aliens block his path, preventing him to get inside the carrier ship. He does manage to hang on to the ship a bit as it entered the wormhole, but he soon ends up alone with his mecha entering the wormhole.
Fast forward six months into the future. We see this random girl named Amy.
For some reason, Led’s mecha ends up being collected by random, well, scavengers? They’re trying to pick apart the thing, but their technology doesn’t seem capable of scratching Led’s mecha.
So why six months? Basically the life support system of the mecha placed Led into a cold sleep to ensure survival, and he woke up just now. So as a well-trained soldier, he calmly analyzed the situation, noting how he is lost, how he cannot understand the language of the people, and how he is currently in no danger. So waited for the night before venturing out of the mecha.
But it just so happens that he meets Amy and one of the guys working on that place, and fearing violent repercussions (considering language barrier), he quickly took Amy hostage…
He runs around, escaping the pursuers / rescuers, buying time for the AI of his mecha to analyze the language people are using. That is, until he goes out of the factory and see the world outside. And the grand reveal is that he somehow ended up in the sole planet capable of human life, largely assumed to be just a legend from where he is from: Earth.
Cool stuff. At the very least this show satisfies the rule of cool, showing enough pew-pews and space battles to make a mecha fans smile. The premise of the alien lost on Earth is interesting enough as well, as it opens various plot points that the series could do. The downside of this, though, is that we’re not quite sure what this series will focus on. Will it be about mechas and aliens? Will it be about the differing lives of Earthlings and Space Humans? Will it be about romance?
That question though makes me want to see more of this stuff, so as a first episode it has enough hook. Also, both the mecha design and character design looks pretty nice, which makes for quite an enjoyable experience.
