Unboxing – What’s Inside the Box?

If you’re checking out the Tanggula X5 Pro, let’s dive right in and keep it simple.

Tanggula X5 Pro

The packaging is straightforward. The black matte box feels pretty standard for electronics, with a glossy K5 Pro logo embossed on the front. Opening it is simple—just slide off the lower section, and gravity does the work.

One side of the box lists the X5 Pro’s features, and inside, you’ll find:

  • A power brick
  • A free HDMI cable
  • A remote control
  • An external antenna for WiFi
  • Another remote control (yes, two of them!)

The second remote is an interesting addition. It’s got quick-access buttons for apps like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Prime, and even Google Play Store. The catch? No batteries are included for either remote. You’ll need to grab two pairs of AAA batteries—one pair for each remote.

It seems the simpler remote is designed for general streaming, while the other leans more toward Tanggula’s IPTV services.

Other than that, there’s not much else to find.

Closer Look – Tanggula X5 Pro

The X5 Pro looks sleek with its metallic casing and minimalistic design. The product name is neatly etched on the surface, and there’s an LED display on the front showing the time and device status.

Ports and Connectivity:

  • Right Side: A TF card slot and a USB 3.0 port.
  • Back: USB 2.0, LAN Ethernet (RJ45), HDMI, SPDIF for high-quality audio, DC 5V power input, and a port for the external WiFi antenna.
  • Left Side: A honeycomb-style vent for passive heat dissipation.

When powered, the front LED glows blue during use and turns red when idle, though the digital timer remains visible.

Setting It Up: The Good, the Bad, and the Annoying

Getting the X5 Pro up and running requires a bit of patience. Connect to your network (WiFi or Ethernet), update the system, and tweak the settings for optimal performance.

Here’s the thing: the included remotes can be frustrating to use for setup. If you’ve got a spare keyboard and mouse, use them—it’ll save you a lot of hassle.

Pro Tip: Adjust the color space, resolution, and display settings for the best picture quality before diving into your favorite content.

Streaming: Apps, Content, and Limitations

The X5 Pro offers a ton of content, including IPTV services through its Tanggula apps. You’ll also find popular streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube, and Disney+.

Unfortunately, we hit a snag when trying to access Tanggula’s exclusive content. Due to what we suspect are region restrictions, we couldn’t fully test apps like TarsTV and TangTV. Additionally, we encountered persistent network connection issues despite a stable internet connection.

That said, mainstream streaming services like Netflix and Disney+ worked well, and the X5 Pro handled 4K content without major hiccups.

Streaming Quality: Decent with Room for Improvement

If you’ve got a good display, the X5 Pro delivers a solid streaming experience. On a 4K TV, the picture quality is decent—nothing mind-blowing, but good enough for casual movie nights or binge sessions.

Audio, however, is on the weaker side. Using external speakers or a soundbar significantly improves the experience.

Final Thoughts

The Tanggula X5 Pro is a decent media player with a few standout features, like its extensive content library and support for IPTV. However, it’s not without its flaws—frustrating setup, missing features due to restrictions, and underwhelming audio might make it a tough sell for some.

If you’re after a device that combines streaming with IPTV capabilities, the X5 Pro might fit the bill, but keep those limitations in mind.

Would we recommend the Tanggula X5 Pro? It depends on what you prioritize—a wide range of content and IPTV support, or ease of use and polished performance.
