Closer Look
Once again welcome B2G segment where we cover CD-R king products. Why are we doing this? Because we love CD-R king. Enough of that, what we have here right now is CD-R Kings’ July 2014 model of Aluminum Tripod. Probably one of the cheapest tripod you’ll ever see and this is their latest as of the stated date.
We are actually not sure how to cover and review a tripod since we haven’t tried reviewing one before but we will take note of all the important details for this tripod. So as you can see, the tripod features a maximum height of 1300mm and can handle up to 870g of weight before anything starts to fall down according to the specification of the tripod.
Taking a closer look, the tripod comes with a free carrier bag. The tripod features aluminum legs and neck but the rest of the parts are plastic excluding screws, bolts and nuts of course. Once you get the feel of the aluminum legs, you will notice that the aluminum legs are thin and can easily be bent. Well nothing grand to expect from an 880 pesos tripod.
The lock mechanism for the legs are quite sturdy but they are made of plastic. The plastic feet are very flexible so there won’t be any issues in terms of ground level.
Taking a closer look at the base part where cameras are locked in, you can see that every part of it is made of plastic. This tripod features a primitive checker, the green tube with a metal ball inside, that signifies that the camera is not in correct landscape position if the metal ball inside that green tube is not in the middle.
The handler part that you can use to adjust the position of the base of the tripod for camera orientation is purely made of plastic. No rubbers here.
After adjusting and setting up the tripod, here you can see the highest reach that the tripod can do. I’m actually pretty scared to lock in my DSLR on that tripod with that kind of setup.
Okay so this image was taken using my phone since I had to mount up my DSLR Canon 600D with a weight of (inc. batteries), 570 g (1.26 lb / 20.11 oz) just so to test if we will have problems with this tripod. One thing that I first noticed after mounting up the camera while the tripod is setup to its highest setup possible is that the neck almost loose down since the neck was not locked tightly via gear screw.
So that covers our review of CD-R King tripod model of July 2014. If you want a cheap and sturdy tripod, then we do recommend this one. Otherwise, do get a quality one for professional use.
Oh another worth noting is that this tripod doesn’t feature “7-day replacement 2 weeks warranty” which is a new thing to hear from them. When I bought this one, the saleslady told me instantaneously “Sir wala warranty, bilhin mo pa?”. DAMN!!
