“The Assassins were my brothers, and now I hunt them to the ends of the earth, and I swear, I will not fail.”
Thus says Shay Patrick Cormac, lead hero of Assassin’s Creed Rogue coming to Playstation 3 and XBox 360 on November 11. Shay is a Templar and former Assassin who hunts down the Colonial Brotherhood to near extinction setting the stage for Assassin’s Creed III.
Introduced a month ago, Rogue looks and plays very similar to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag with noticeable differences such as the ability to kill civilians to distract guards, a functional eagle sense, and a more aggressive approach to missions.
While much of the gameplay has been criticized as being “more of the same”, the game is banking on its storyline, which will put the Kenway family saga into full-circle by showing the events from Black Flag to Assassin’s Creed III where the Colonial Brotherhood, previously ascendant due to Edward Kenway’s dominance of the seas, has been reduced to a bitter old man.
Much of the improvement and innovation was reserved for Assassin’s Creed Unity for the next gen consoles and PC. But Rogue still has enough to offer to fans who haven’t made the jump.
