E3 2015 has come and gone, but the excitement that the video game industry felt during this conference is not yet forgotten. It was a time for impressive announcements across the whole industry. Regardless if gamers have a Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, PC or a combination of gaming devices, there was something for everyone at E3 2015.
Activision Reveals Nintendo Characters for Skylanders Super Chargers
Skylanders has proven to be a profitable franchise for Activision. The company looks to continue expanding the brand with the announcement that iconic Nintendo characters will be joining “Skylanders Super Chargers.” At E3 2015, the developer and Nintendo showed off Hammer Slam Bowser and Turbo Charge Donkey Kong Skylander figures. People who buy these figures can also use them as amiibo in select Nintendo games.
The late president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, said during the announcement that Skylanders has been very popular on Nintendo platforms, and he hopes that this new approach will continue to expand the game for players. The CEO of Activision, Bobby Kotick, said that his company was the first to bring toys to life, and some of the most dedicated players are Nintendo fans. It’s great to see Bowser and Donkey Kong in this magical world.
Fans Can Create Their Own Mario Stages
The news surrounding Nintendo didn’t stop with Skylanders. Nintendo also showed off more footage for “Super Mario Maker.” This is a game that allows players to design and share their own Mario stages. They can switch between multiple Mario art styles, including those of the original “Super Mario Bros” and “Super Mario World.” Players can also use their amiibo to unlock special in game characters to add into their games.
Bethesda Steals the Show With “Fallout 4”
Possibly one of the biggest announcements at E3 2015 was that of “Fallout 4.” Gamers have been expecting Bethesda to announce this title for some time now, but nothing could have prepared them for what they saw at E3. This new entry into the franchise seems to address complaints that people have had about previous Fallout games, such as barren landscapes, giving a voice to the protagonist and giving the player a canine companion.
Square Enix Remaking One of Its Most Popular Final Fantasy Games
People were expecting some big things from the Square Enix press conference during E3, but no one expected them to announce a remake to one of the most popular entries in the Final Fantasy series, “Final Fantasy 7.” The remake to this classic PS1 game is something that console gamers have been asking for. While some fans still want remakes to older games in the series such as “Final Fantasy 6,” it’s still great to see Square Enix putting out high quality remakes.
Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem Live
One of the most welcoming pieces of news for RPG fans on the Wii U was a conformation that Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem hasn’t been canceled. This game, which is also referred to as Genei Ibun Roku #FE in Japan, has yet to be given an official name. For E3 2015, however, Nintendo showed off new trailers and in-game footage during its Treehouse Live presentation.
