Synopsis
Peeping Life is about the mundane everyday lives of people. Essentially, we’re peeping at their lives. Sounds boring? Not quite. You’d be surprised at how weird and funny things can get in the mundane things, especially for famous people.
Take Astro Boy for example. Yes, that Astro Boy who has no nipples.
Astro Boy just broke a wall. Why? Because he was trying to practice the art of kabe-don, where a guy would corner a girl placing his hands against the wall. But seeing as Astro Boy is a superpowered robot, he breaks the wall. And so the Professor just teaches him some other way to flirt: laying one’s head on a girl’s shoulder.
And such is the theme of the show: realistic stupid interactions between people: Like Yatterman fixing Doronjo’s bike and overcharging her; Like Black Jack getting swindled by a fake doctor when he had the flu; Like a Japanese couple flirting in non-sense English.
There’s no overarching plot, just short segments of daily life.
Review
The show is very witty. However, it is also very dialogue heavy. This isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but it would mean that this show isn’t just about for everyone.
The strongest parts of its humor also relies on the gap between the famous characters and the mundane interactions they have. This can be a warning sign for the segments that involve ordinary people. For example, the segment between the Japanese couple flirting in English isn’t as funny as Astro Boy learning how to flirt. How funny the show will eventually be MIGHT be proportional to how often famous characters will have their cameo, which might not be always. But we only have a small sample size for now.
Overall, the show works if you want some light, smart humor. But be ready to read a lot of dialogue.
Waifu Index
The show doesn’t really have its own characters, and borrows from others. So any waifu material must be credited to the original source.
