I’m sharing this post in hopes of getting answers to this problem if ever someone is having the same issue. Despite my personal opposition to this matter, we’ve reached the point that a certain part of our readership and audience actually concern themselves about this matters. That said, I do run a quick test in NiceHash’s QuickMiner to conduct an immediate hashrate test under our testing environment.
The problem is that the Marvel 10G ethernet LAN onboard NIC shutsoff and disconnect the network. This happens within seconds to up to a few minutes after starting the program. This also occurs whether you use NiceHash QuickMiner or the full application. Resolving the issue requires restarting the machine or just disabling and re-enabling the NIC in device manager.
I have not went so far as to testing with the mining OS but I do feel it is Windows that’s causing the problem. My assumption is that Windows may have something to do with it as it detects NiceHash as malware. Disabling Windows Defender does allow running the software but the problem with the LAN persists. But here’s what is really puzzling me: the Intel onboard 2.5GbE NIC doesn’t have a problem and connection is fine on that line.
I’m really curious if this just me or someone may be experiencing this. The motherboard is a ROG MAXIMUS XII EXTREME.
If anyone’s reading this in the future and may have an answer, hope you can help. I will update this post as I get time to explore this further.
UPDATE 10/14/2023: Never really figured this one out so could just be a one-off thing.
