You know the drill. Toycon 2013 is happening right now and we’re at the tail end of day two. So what were the stuff to be seen? Well, here’s a few things here and there…
To start, you would see the usual stuff. Tons and tons of toys. What did you expect? So naturally there are oh so many booth selling toy merchandise, ranging from awesome to what did I just see (bobblin boobs, kind of like a bobble head, only the boobs bobble). The far left of the hall is mainly focused on western merchandises, while the middle of the booth mostly has the anime goods. As expected, man, the walkways were cramped.
And by cramped, I mean really difficult to squeeze your way through. The turn out this year was ridiculous. I mean, OMG THE TICKET LINE BOOTH. It reached the 4th floor. At that was the case when it was around 1 PM. I expect the line to go worse by 3 PM. As evidence to my theory, a line still existed around 5 PM. 5 PM!!! Be prepared folks.
But wait… Did I just see Hobby Japan? Yes. Yes I did see Hobby Japan! They’ve got a booth! And the people inside the booth were authentic Japanese! (Ok, they were talking in Nihonggo) Anyway, it does look like it’s an official booth from Hobby Japan, and they’re here to promote their new, well, product, the Seven Deadly Sins. They even have three official cosplayers going as characters from that line. I know, because I’m a fan of Jia Gold and she’s one of the cosplayers.
But the best part about their booth is their awesome loot bag. For 1,000 php, you get a loot bag that has some random stuff and a surprise figure! Here’s what I got:
That’s (1) an almost naked keyboard mat (?) featuring Kanetsugu I’m too embarrassed to use; (2) a set of Queen’s Blade cards that is semi suggestive; (3) a series of small figs from who knows what franchise; (4) a t-shirt featuring the character representing lust from the Seven Deadly Sins which may or may not fit me; and (5) a Fate Testarossa figure from Nanoha. All for 1,000 php!
Moving along, I’m actually pleasantly surprised to see used video games sellers. That’s relatively something new, I think. Yey to more variety!
As for cosplay? Well, usual stuff. I don’t recall anything that particularly drew my attention aside from the booming number of cosplayers doing soldiers from Shingeki no Kyojin. And no, no titan. There was a Colossal Titan mask somewhere from Onegai Onii-chan shop though.
tzia_n’s top pick for today’s cosplayers is… Madokami!
Followed closely by Jon “You Know Nothing” Snow.
Oh by the way, there was a real live kitten in the con. Some girl thought it a great idea to bring a kitten with her. The poor kitten looked scared (and cute).
Pictures!
