The Wizarding World of Harry Potter certainly inspired so many dreams when it started back in our childhood and even to this date that we have an expansive universe of magic and mysteries that anyone can immerse themselves in. Hogwarts Legacy realized so many of those, but if you’ve ran out of spells to cast and dark lords to slay, here are 7 games like Hogwarts Legacy to fill your world with magic.
Elden Ring
Look, Elden Ring may not be as whimsical and YA-ish as Hogwarts Legacy, but the idea of making your own character and building it up as a powerful mage will certainly make for a wonderful adventure across the Lands Between. Plus, if you really want to make it Hogwartsy, there’s Raya Lucaria that will make you feel right at home as a wizard, with other wizards, knights, monsters and everything in between trying to murder you.
Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen
When is magic not OP? Never. Even in Dragon’s Dogma where most people would probably go for an Assassin or Warrior vocation, annihilating any foe standing in your way with magic can sometimes get to be more fun than chipping away at their health. And hey, if you’re not the type to go all out on magic, you can try out being a mystic knight or a magic archer for a different playstyle that still includes some magic. Game’s pretty fun.
Little Witch Nobeta
Not gonna lie, Little Witch Nobeta is more of a third person shooter (albeit with magic) than becoming a student at Hogwarts. There’s plenty of spells at your disposal, and you’re exploring ancient, labyrinthine castles. Plus, if your idea of a good time is playing a horror game, it does take a dark turn, especially if you expect this to be a lighthearted experience.
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
A game revolving around a school in a magical setting that sound like you’re in Hogwarts, the only difference with Fire Emblem: Three Houses is that instead of a student, you play as the teacher, and instead of four houses, you get three. Your character and your students can be spellcasters, but as opposed to Hogwarts Legacy, Fire Emblem: Three Houses is a strategy RPG so you can’t exactly spam spells. Can fit the bill if you’re looking for a Hogwarts Legacy-ish type of game, but regardless, you’ll get a fun experience playing it. Oh, and just to note, it’s a Nintendo Switch exclusive, so you’ll need to spend on another system just to get it up and running.
Fable Anniversary
With fantasy titles, most people usually go for a shield and a sword, but if magic’s allowed, you’d well expect there’s going to be plenty to cast. Fable does have that option for you while you explore Albion. Now unfortunately, you might need to go through hoops if you’ve already played Fable Anniversary and want to continue your journey by playing 2 and 3, but if you do manage to get a copy and run it, try it out. They’re all worth it.
Forspoken
Forspoken isn’t exactly what you’d call a good time if you’re in it for the narrative, but if you’re going for it for the explosive magical action, there’s plenty to be had here. You play as a battle mage that can parkour. If you’re on the fence on getting this, there’s a demo available. And even that presents you with a fun opportunity to obliterate enemies with a blast of colorful spells. Try it out!
LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4,5-7
This may feel like cheating since this is the source material and all, but if you want to capture the whole magical experience the Wizarding World has to offer, LEGO: Harry Potter would seem like a good fit so you can relive the adventures of Harry, Ron and Hermione, LEGO style! Sure, the spellcasting and skill building may not be as intricate as Hogwarts Legacy or other entries on the list, but if you’re in it for the story, it can get pretty fun.
The Harry Potter franchise has built a fanbase that’s still going strong to this date, and Hogwarts Legacy keeps the magic going even longer. So, if you want to keep the experience going by playing games like Hogwarts Legacy, these games will hopefully do just that for you.
