Whenever we hear the term “Gaming PC”, we usually think of monstrous machines with 4-way SLI GTX Titan-X, Intel Xeon 2699 v3 overclocked, 64GB of 3200Mhz DDR4 RAM, a 10 Terabyte SSD and 2000 watt power supply coupled with 3x 4K 144hz IPS Monitors. (or is it just me?)

ITX Gaming PC Build Guide December 2016
Anyways, that build, whether you like it or not, will cost you… A LOT. Thus here comes this magnificent guide, to help you guys start out small, and game. We at Back2Gaming, understand that, in today’s VR world, and with the recent announcement of NVIDIA’s Pascal GTX 1080 and GTX 1070 graphics cards, it might seem intimidating to create a rig, but it’s not. And you’re at the right place.
Note: All of the prices in this guide is as of May, 23, 2016, from DynaquestPC, PCExpress, and PCHub. The specifications that we built here is based off our experience with them and is expected to run Dota 2, CS:GO, at Mixed settings at 1080p, depending on what kind of build that you choose. This build is also for the system only. No monitors, peripherals, and such. We also choose these components based on their STOCK SETTINGS. No overclocking or tweaking was done whatsoever.
BOSSMAC’S NOTE
Now I know there’s a lot of you PC Master Racer out there that’s gonna come here and parade your specification suggestions for 60FPS but calm your tits for a moment and realize that your 60FPS obsession doesn’t apply to everyone and here in B2G we acknowledge that fact; the fact that the term gaming is subjective and your definition of it will not apply to another person. The PC Master Race talks about ascension and that is learning as you progress through the build process and learn what you like and what you need to game to suit your own needs. That is true ascension.
Given that point, we still strive to provide a playable experience meaning we set a baseline of at least 30FPS for most storyline AAA titles and at least a decent 45-60FPS in fast-paced, lighter eSports titles.
Again, don’t come in here and post a cookie-cutter recommendation of what you feel is the best gaming build. Be constructive, suggest and don’t insist. We are gamers, not PC Fashion Show Builders.
Here we have our 2016 Intel and AMD Php15,000 Gaming May Build Guide
This build guide is perfect for those starting to build rigs and for those that’s just playing Dota 2, CS:GO, LoL, etc. Don’t expect maxing out GTA V at 4K with this build, or even rendering intensive videos/3D models though, you’re going to need a beefier PC for that.
We designed these builds with upgradebility, and price-for-performance in mind. Here we have different options and choices for you to choose from.
AMD Build #1:
This build is PERFECT for those looking to play Dota 2, LoL, CS:GO among others, though NOT RECOMMENDED for playing today’s AAA games. Here we utilize AMD’s price efficient Quad Core, Octa-Core GPU – The A10-7870K , an efficient APU capable of playing today’s games at 720p with mixed settings, without the assistance of a dedicated GPU. Though ofcourse, you can always add your own GPU, so we’ve decided to list down the possible upgrades you might consider in this build.
Some of you might doubt the power that the A10-7870k can bring, but with it’s price and efficiency, it’s a steal. In the future you can always add your own discrete graphics card to improve performance. In this build though, we’ll emphasize on the RAM as an APU system RAM for both graphics and data, unlike a traditional build with a dedicated GPU that uses it’s own VRAM.
Part | Name | Price (in Php) |
---|---|---|
CPU | AMD Kaveri A10-7870K | 6,850 |
GPU | N/A | N/A |
MOBO | Asus A68HM-K | 2,390 |
RAM | G.Skill Aegis 8GB (8×1) | 2,190 |
HDD | WD Blue 1TB | 2,400 |
SSD | N/A | N/A |
DVD | Optional | Optional |
PSU & CASE | Tecware Mono with 600w PSU | 1,100 |
TOTAL PRICE: Php14,930
Possible Upgrades:
- A GeForce GTX 750Ti or higher graphics card.
- An R7-250 or higher for a crossfire enabled experience.
If you could spend a bit more, you could change the RAM from single 8GB to a single 16GB stick, so that in the future, you can just buy another 16GB stick to make it 32GB. It would be a lot cheaper and wiser, since that the motherboard is capable of handling 32GBs of RAM. You can also buy a card in the future and enable that Crossfire between the GPU of the APU and the dedicated GPU.
PROS:
- Reasonable gaming performance for the budget
- A good option if you’re looking to upgrade in the future if you’re mostly concentrated in just eSports gaming, though rendering performance will be slower than other builds.
CONS:
- Weak processing power compared to other builds in terms of rendering, extracting, etc.
- Weak in modern AAA games of today.
Here are references and videos of the A10-7870K’s performance.
As you can cleary see, the A10-7870K did very well with games such as GTA V, without the assistance of a dedicated GPU.
AMD Build #2:
Here we don’t utilize the power of an APU, but we use a traditional, separate GPU/CPU build. The Vishera FX-4300 is perfect for the job as, it is already a quad core, and even though today’s games utilize more on cores now compared to games back in 2012, a quad core is sufficient in playing games ranging from Dota 2, to GTA V, as it’s fast clock speed of 3.80Ghz will get the job done. If you plan on rendering more, you might want to get an AMD Vishera FX6300 or higher instead of an FX-4300.
Part | Name | Price |
---|---|---|
CPU | AMD Vishera FX-4300 | 4,850 |
GPU | Sapphire R7-240 1GB DDR5 | 2,850 |
MOBO | Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2 | 2,290 |
RAM | Crucial Ballistix Sport 4gb (4×1) | 1,200 |
HDD | WD Blue 1TB | 2,400 |
SSD | N/A | N/A |
DVD | Optional | Optional |
PSU & CASE | Tecware Mono with 600w PSU | 1,100 |
TOTAL PRICE: 14,690
As you can clearly see, the RAM that we have here is only 4GB compared to the 1st guide. This is sufficient since that, the R7-240 already has a RAM of it’s own. Remember, you can always upgrade in the future. Below we have possible upgrade suggestions that you should check out.
Possible Upgrade suggestions:
- An AMD Vishera FX-6300 or higher (if rendering is a necessity)
- A GTX 750Ti/R7-260X or higher.
PROS:
- Better long-term performance for gaming, since that, you can buy a graphics card in the near future and it’ll handle it alot better compared to an APU.
CONS:
- Performance may vary depending on some of today’s games with mixed settings. Upgrade the GPU if necessary.
Here are references and videos of the FX-4300 and R7-240’s performance.
Intel Build #1
For me, and other several sources, Intel Processors are much more capable than AMD processors in terms of IPC and efficiency, though with a significant difference in their price tag. That being said, this does not mean that AMD isn’t good. It all depends on how you will use it. Here we utilize Intel’s Pentium G4400 from the latest Skylake generation.
Part | Name | Price |
---|---|---|
CPU | Intel Pentium G4400 @3.3Ghz (Skylake) | 2,700 |
GPU | Zotac GTX 750Ti 1GB 128bit | 4,995 |
MOBO | Gigabyte GA-H110M-DS2 | 3,390 |
RAM | Crucial Ballistix Sport 4gb (4×1) | 1,200 |
HDD | WD Blue 1TB | 2,400 |
SSD | N/A | N/A |
DVD | Optional | Optional |
PSU & CASE | Tecware Mono with 600w PSU | 1,100 |
TOTAL PRICE: 15,785
An Intel Pentium processor might lack in terms of gaming performance for some of today’s AAA games, video rendering, 3D Modelling and the likes, as it is only a dual-core processor, with no hyper-threading. Despite that, it is perfect for games such as CS:GO and Dota 2, and the latter.
Possible Upgrade Suggestions:
- An Intel i5 processor (take advantage of those cores)
- More powerful GPU like in our PHP20,000 Skylake build guide
PROS:
- Great gaming performance for Dota 2, CS:GO straight out of the box.
- Great in handling some of today’s AAA games with mixed settings.
CONS:
- Weak in rendering compared to others, and WILL bottleneck performance of other graphics cards if you plan on buying high-end GPU’s (970, 980, etc).
Here are videos of the Pentium G4400 and GTX 750Ti’s performance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxEucCBENHQ
Intel Build 2:
In this 2nd build, we sacrifice the GPU in order to have a more powerful CPU for long term purposes. Since that, buying a good i5 processor, can handle a mainstream graphics card that you can buy in the future. Gaming performance at hand however won’t be that good initially though thanks to Intel’s HD 4600 integrated graphics, the i5-4460 can handle some of today’s games in low settings.
Part | Name | Price |
---|---|---|
CPU | Intel Core i5-4460 @3.4Ghz | 8,690 |
GPU | N/A | N/A |
MOBO | Asrock H81M-VG4 R2.0 | 2,150 |
RAM | Crucial Ballistix Sport 4gb (4×1) | 1,200 |
HDD | WD Blue 1TB | 2,400 |
SSD | N/A | N/A |
DVD | Optional | Optional |
PSU & CASE | Tecware Mono with 600w PSU | 1,100 |
TOTAL PRICE: 15,540
THIS BUILD REQUIRES A GRAPHICS CARD IN THE FUTURE.
Possible Upgrade suggestions:
- If you have a bigger budget and will be rendering alot, go for an i7. You could use the Hyper-threading.
- A GTX 750Ti/R7-260X or higher.
PROS:
- Better longterm performance for gaming, since that, you can buy a graphics card in the near future.
- Best Intel option if you’re looking to upgrade in the future and will be rendering alot.
CONS:
- Average gaming performance out-of-the-box. Since that there is no GPU present, this build is weak in playing today’s AAA games, though is still capable in playing Dota 2 and CS:GO, or any other common game out there, at 1080p, with mixed settings.
Here are videos of the i5-4460’s performance.
SUMMARY
All of these builds have it’s advantages and disadvantages. It all depends on what will you use it for and your upgrade path if you have one, whether it’s just playing Dota 2, CS:GO, basically playing not very intensive games, or rendering, computing, or anything that taxes the CPU… and for most people, they just don’t know what they’re gonna use it for. So here, we provided a ranking system on which builds would be the best if placed into two situations, whether it’s gaming, or for upgradeability/rendering.
Now, here’s a few things that you must know first.
- Rendering depends on what you’ll be rendering, whether it’s photos, videos, or 3D animation.
- If it’s a video, then that means that you’ll need a more efficient CPU than a GPU, though both will do great.
- If it’s a 3D Model/Animation, you’ll be needing a more powerful GPU than CPU, depending on how intense is the project that you’re rendering is, though having both components powerful is a great thing.
- The same goes for Photoshop/Pictures. Photoshop can utilize GPU and CPU at the same time when rendering, though it is more taxing at the GPU than the CPU.
- Gaming performance varies mostly on the GPU.
- If you’ll just be playing Dota 2 or CS:GO, or any common game that doesn”t require massive GPU power, then all of these builds is good for you.
- AAA games such as GTA V, Shadow of Mordor, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Arkham City, etc etc, will require a powerful GPU, and a good processor that has atleast FOUR CORES, considering that’s the standard of today’s games. Games such as Dota 2 doesn’t need that much power.
Here’s a ranking on which build is best-suited when it comes to gaming performance when built:
- Intel Build 1: G4400 w/ GTX 750Ti
- AMD Build 2: FX-4300 w/ R7-240
- AMD Build 1: A10-7870K
- Intel Build 2: i5-4460
And here we rank which build is the best when it comes to future-proofing (by buying a GPU), though sacrificing the initial gaming quality upon build:
- Intel Build 2: i5-4460
- Intel Build 1: G4400 w/ GTX 750Ti
- AMD Build 1: A10-7870K
- AMD Build 2:FX-4300 w/ R7-240
If you have plans on upgrading in the future and can spend a bit more, I suggest you buy an 8×1 1600Mhz stick, instead of a 4×1, so that you can just you buy a single 8×1 stick to make it 16gbs. This is more cost-efficient compared when buying a 4×1, and buying an 8×1 in the future or another 4×1 to make it 8gbs.
Also, you can buy an SSD and set that as your bootable to have faster boots, and I suggest that you buy a new PSU in the future, especially if you plan on modding, and/or buying a new high end GPU, especially if you’ll choose the Intel Build 2 and the AMD Build 3.

I wouldn’t really recommend using an R7 240. IMHO you can get a second hand gpu that is more powerful (e.g. 560/ 560 to or 6850)
You have a good selections here.now I’m planning to build my own gaming pc.
Nice choice of using APU 🙂 Using one too and the game experience is good.
Sir high setting po ba ung sa dota2 ???
Med-high at 1080p siguro pero max at 1080p mejo drag na yan, 720p would be a sweet spot if you have that resolution. May monitor ka na ba ngayon bro?
I already have a gpu(MSI R5450 1gb) from my previous rig, how will my gpu work with the Intel G4400 processor? TIA..
it will but modern games won’t be as smooth on it versus the one in the build. You can use it for a while but if you’re looking to play modern games I suggest upgrade down the line.
Would you recommend using the msi r5450 as of the moment or use the built’in gpu of g4400? Tia..
How soon can you buy a new GPU or do you really need it? What games do you mostly play and what’s your current resolution?
I can buy a new GPU by December(bonus).. I usually play NBA2k15-16, FiFa 15,16 and Dota 2.

I need some piece of advise on building a new cheap mini ITX set up cpu, which is most likely available in all computer store nation wide. Thanks in advance
What can you recommend if i will play Nba 2k games? I will not play dota2 or lol. Thanks!
For 2K games I suggest a higher spec build like our 20k guide, you can see it at the right side of this page. just scroll up. 😀
Nice the problem is how to get 15k.

(planning to get a gtx750ti or gtx950 soon).

reliable ba ang tecware mono na psu?
Depends sa load bro pero for starters it should do, not for mainstream or high-end builds though
Sir San Po ba nakakaorder nyan at bakit n/a pa ang gpu at ssd?
yeah ok lang di naman kainitan toh, for the most part up to i3 6100 no need mag-aftermarket cooler although pag i5 or higher suggest ko na aftermarket just in case you’ll be pushing it more but for this build sufficient na tong stock cooler
Sir, which build po ang maganda? Kasi Dota 2 lang ang nilalaro ko pero I want a rig na smooth rin sa video editing (Vegas Pro).
tia
ok na ba ito

Pang-work ba yan bro? 😀
Hello! So I’m following the build #1 with the intent of a low-end Dota2 rig. I intend, and prefer, to play on the lowest possible settings. I messed around and end up with this build: http://i.imgur.com/vuoTSjal.png
Any suggestions? I feel like 18k is the max that I can spend on a PC, so the build in the image fits the budget perfectly. Are there any parts that looks out of place?
Thanks!
You need an FM2 board for that kaveri proc. That said, with a compatible board, for me it would work naman pero yes, at very low settings so this is ok but I insist it won’t give the best results. Given these specs, you could try mixing in an H110 board (make sure its updated) and a G4560 processors (should run about 6k php combined) then add in an RX460 at least. Papalo ka ng 21k though pero kasama na monitor and you’d have a greater gaming experience.
Thanks for the tip! After researching a bit more, I found that there’s almost zero reason to pick an AMD processor that wasn’t released this year. I did another build, this time with an i5, and also ran it through PCPartPicker to see if the components are compatible. I decided to grab the best CPU that I can find because I plan to do some cpu-intensive stuff for school. I guess a graphics card can wait since I’m only going to play Dota2. I’m over my budget, but I guess it would be worth it?

Boss any updates sa intel package 1 na specs? same parin ba ngayon yan? or may better for the price? meron ka din bang alam na dealer na mura for that specs? balak ko kasi magtayo ng computer shop >10 units. Ilan rin ba minimum units para magkareturn of investment? Your feedback boss is very much appreciated
May update na ba for 2017? Ganda kc magbasa dito. Very informative
working on it bro pero upgrade na tayo sa pricing anlabo na talaga buhatin ng 15k only budget for this year 🙁
