2019 is off a good start with PC hardware announcements and different promos like SSDs and gaming monitors. It’s definitely a good year to start building a gaming PC to take advantage of the transition period from GTX 10 series to RTX 20 series, Intel 7th gen to Intel 8th/9th gen and Ryzen 2000 series to Ryzen 3000. While others would want to wait a little while longer before upgrading or building a new gaming pc, it would take at least 6mos to get a complete line up of these new products. As of writing, there is still no
For this build guide, we are targeting a budget of 50,000 pesos for a full-fledged triple-A gaming PC. This kind of budget allows us to get the balanced PC components with leeway for upgradability later down the road. We are also going to take advantage of PCHub’s promos to get the best deals possible for Q1 2019.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600
The Ryzen 5 2600 is one of the most popular processors due to its price-to-performance ratio. While its IPC(Instructions per clock) is slower than the 8600K, it makes up by having more cores than its Intel counterpart – which more game developers are taking advantage of. The Ryzen 5 2600 is also a great choice for streaming or any rendering related tasks because of its 6c/12t nature.
As of writing, the Ryzen 2600 comes with either a free Geil Evo Spear 4GB 2400Mhz RAM or a 120GB Patriot/TeamGroup SSD. If you act fast, you might be able to snag either of the two free components to get the best bang for buck on your gaming PC purchase. IMHO, I’d settle for the free 120GB SSD since we already have faster memory. You can either use the SSD or resell it, serving as a pseudo-discount.
Motherboard: B450 Aorus Elite
We picked the Aorus B450 Elite because its a feature packed B450 motherboards for a lower price compared to other brands. It has a 6 power phase VRM design can run our Ryzen 5 2600 that can also handle overclocking. It also has 2 M.2 slots that support NVMe with one thermal guard. And of-course, it has a good looking aesthetic and Gigabyte’s RGB fusion, all for Php 6,190.
RAM: Geil SuperLuce 8GB(4GB x 2)
The RAM was a bit of an easy choice as its for sale for only Php 3,630 for a dual channel kit. It has a speed of 2666Mhz which is beneficial for our Ryzen CPU and it has RGB as a cherry-on-top. There are non RGB rams available that will save you around 300 pesos.
GPU: Galax RTX 2060 One-Click OC
Yes, we opted for the latest RTX 2060 series graphics card instead of the older, GTX 1070 Ti for the following reasons:
- The RTX 2060’s performance is between the GTX 1070Ti and GTX 1080 as seen in our RTX 2060 benchmarks. As of writing, the Galax RTX 2060 is priced at Php 19,840 while the Zotac 1070 Ti is priced at 18,500. For around 1k more, you’ll be getting Ray Tracing and DLSS.
- Once the RTX 20 series lineup is complete, the GTX 10 series will be legacy cards which means that these cards won’t have performance improvements via driver optimizations, making the RTX 2060 a better choice in the long run as its performance will be optimized thru drivers.
- The RTX 2060 comes with either a Battlefield V or Anthem as part of Nvidia’s RTX ON, GAME ON promo. You’ll be getting a free AAA game on top of your purchase for your gaming PC to max out. At least you have something to be busy with until the next steam sale comes.
Storage: Crucial BX500 480GB
We went for a single solution SSD instead of the regular 120/240GB SSD + 1TB HDD solution mainly because the Crucial BX500 480GB is on sale for only Php 3,700. Also, we have received feedback from our audience and from PC stores that most gamers who buy a full set gaming PC do not buy a hard drive because they already one lying around from their previous build. Most of them are also trying out SSDs for the first time. Moreover, the BX500 480GB is cheaper than going for the regular combo. This choice gives us faster speeds without much sacrifice for storage capacity.
PSU: FSP Hydro 600w 80+ Bronze
While we slightly cheapen out on our power supply, it still checks out the necessary requirement as it has an 80+ bronze certification. 600 watts is more than enough for our Ryzen 5 2600 + RTX 2060 build. The PSU can handle up to a 2700 and an RTX 2080 thanks to the Turing architecture’s power efficiency. Yes, both the 2600 and 2060 can be overclocked without worries.
Case: Phanteks P300
We are again taking advantage of PCHub’s sale by opting a Phanteks P300 TG as our case for 2,750 pesos. Its well known case for its features and aesthetics. Not to mention we got it for Php 1,000 less than its SRP making it a great value for our build. The Fractal Design Define S is a great alternative that’s also for sale for only Php 2,500. If you happen to miss out the sale, you can opt for the Tecware Nexus as a value alternative without losing much features and build quality from our Phanteks P300 case for Php 1,950.
Our 50k Gaming PC is conveniently upgradable and will not lock you in the same configuration over the years. The first thing you definitely noticed in our gaming pc build guide is the exclusion of an aftermarket cooler. The Ryzen Wraith Cooler is a decent performing stock cooler that can support light overclocking if you won the silicon lottery. Moreover, most people don’t intend to overclock their processor especially if it’s their first PC build. It’s economical for a user to have budget allocated for the PC’s main components rather than spending more money on buying a new processor and another cooler or a new motherboard and a new cooler. It also saves the user the hassle of disassembling the PC.
The main reason why we went with a Ryzen 2600 and a B450 board is the support for the upcoming Ryzen 3000 series processors. As stated from AMD, AM4 boards and processors are
With the current prices of memory modules and SSDs, you will surely get lower prices in the long run. If you’re a streamer or a content creator, you can add another dual-channel memory kit to improve rendering speeds and multitasking efficiency. If you’re running out of storage, you can go for an NVMe SSD for faster speeds that are expected to be at the same price of a SATA SSD a few months from now. Moreover, the Galax RTX 2060 is very much capable of running the latest titles at high settings with more than 60fps. There’s really no rush to upgrade the GPU unless you are aiming for a higher resolution. The FSP 600w bronze PSU, on the other hand, can be upgraded to modular, higher efficiency PSU. Changing the case is a matter of personal preference and won’t affect your performance regardless of your upgrade path.
