Microsoft has officially made the Windows 10 Creator’s Update available to all Windows 10 devices. Probably one of the most anticipated features of the Creator’s Update is the addition of Game Mode, also known as Windows 10 Game Mode.
The Windows 10 Game Mode is a mode that is designed to optimize the system for playing video games. Simply, when you start playing video games, your PC will “prioritize its CPU and GPU resources to your game”. The goal of this mode is to improve each game’s frame rate. But is that really is the case for all of us?
We first would like to thank ADATA for providing us our storage needs. You can check more of ADATA from their LAZADA store page.
Windows 10 Game Mode Tested
We’ve tested the Windows 10 Game Mode on a couple of video games and benchmark. We conducted this test to share the light and to verify if our system actually benefits from the game mode.

- Intel i7-6700k @ 4.4GHz
- Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 970 4GB (Default Clocks)
- G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB 2400MHz DDR4

3DMark Testing
Time Spy (DX12)
Firestrike (DX11)
Video Games Testing
Tom Clancy’s The Division (DX12)
Ultra Settings + NVIDIA Settings
For Honor (DX11)
Ultra Setting + NVIDIA Settings
Conclusion
We have tested the Windows 10 Game Mode’s influence on each benchmark. We conducted each test for 3 times. Weirdly enough, the 3Dmark testing result gave us a consistent performance gain of 1 to 2 percent. However, that is true only for the final test or for the overall result. That is also the case for Firestrike, a DX11 benchmark.
For video game testing, we tested the game mode two sets of video games. A DX12 video game called “Tom Clancy’s The Division” and as well as with “For Honor“, a DX11 video game. We cracked up all settings for both game to ultra and set every NVIDIA settings possible. This is to really put a stress on our system. The result seems to be showing similar performance gain that we got from our 3Dmark test. Both games gain about 1 to 2 percent additional frames per second with game mode turned on.
I have read a lot of results from different sources online. Apparently showing otherwise, a decrease in performance when the game mode is on. However, it shows a performance gain for our test. It seems to me that the Windows 10 Creator’s Update Game Mode tends to give different results for a different system.
What I am sure now is that the Windows 10 game mode do increase your system’s performance if your system is being pushed to their limits when playing a video game. However, if your system can handle a certain game easily, then the windows 10 Game Mode tends to have a bad effect when turned on for that specific case.

so sad lang mukha yatang early sisimulan ng MS end of support for win 7 at 8… 3 years early…focus na cla sa win10
I have 7700k + 1070, nung Wala pa ang creators update pag naglalaro ako dota 2. Laging 70 – 90 fps Lang ang inaabot tapos May fps drops Tuwing clash. Nag try na ko ng mga fix. Tapos nag update ako now I can get 200+ fps which is smooth compared sa nakukuha ko na fps.

This will benefit me. Actually, di ko talaga gusto performance ng windows 10 when it comes to gaming so maybe this one is their turnaround.
In addition laki ng kinakain ng CPU at Ram sa windows 10. Kelangan nla i optimize those for who had entry gaming devices
