AMD has announced that they will be moving Ryzen to a new socket come their next release in the form of the Ryzen 7000 series CPUs built on Zen 4. Utilizing AM5 socket LGA1718, AMD is seemingly targeting higher TDP models on their upper tier models. Notable leaker greymon55 has posted 2 possible flagship SKU and their SKUs particularly a 16-core 170W SKU and one with a 12-core 105W TDP.

This bumps the potential 5950X successor to 170W from 105W and is one of the largest jump in AMD CPUs in recent years, especially the Ryzen era. This means AMD may require users to upsize their cooling but given that this will be on a new socket, its highly likely that enthusiasts may want to go up in cooling as well.
