Computex 2016: AMD’s Radeon RX 480 Crossfire – Double trouble vs GTX 1080

Computex 2016: Amd'S Radeon Rx 480 Crossfire - Double Trouble Vs Gtx 1080
(c) engadget

The internet went wild with Tweaktown’s post containing a chart that a crossfired RX 480 worth <500 is able to beat the 700 GPU king GTX 1080 in Ashes of the singularity. The dual RX 480 was able to beat the GTX 1080 by a mere 3.8 FPS in Ashes of the Singularity using the DX12 API.  Koduri, Senior VP and Chief Architect of AMD states that  the crossfired 480s only reached 50% of its computing capacity while the GTX 1080 was at a full 100%. Of course, people should take this with a grain of salt because of scaling and may not be in very case considering that Ashes of the Singularity is still a game under development.

Tt

The RX 480 is AMD’s new GPU under the 14nm Polaris architecture and it’ll be available in 4GB and 8GB memory configurations. It will support AMD’s latest technology such as Freesync technology for a smoother gameplay experience, as well as HDR gaming with Display port 1.3/1.4 support.

Xx

The main selling point of this card is its VR Capability. The current requirements of the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive is either a GTX 970 or  R9 390 which costs roughly around $300-$400 depending on which card you’ll buy and their respective cooler configuration. AMD, having a $199 capable card is a big cost saving option for those wanting to get a dive in Virtual Reality.

The RX 480 will be available starting June 29th. And for more info, LinusTechTips was able to secure an exclusive interview with Kodiri.

Think Intel and Nvidia this year are going a little too OTT with the price gouging.

AMD’s move is beneficial to consumers as Intel and Nvidia are forced to bring down the prices if they can’t beat AMD’s offerings

Was thinking of the Broadwell-E pricing and the Pascal pricing..

      UK pricing for the F.E. edition 1080s = £614.99 to about £649.99

Not looking forward to seeing the 1080ti prices

What can you speculate about its price here in the Philippines? Kung kasing price lang ng 970 do you think it would retail for 15k here in the Ph?

Depends talaga sa stocks. If mababa stocks and konti lang napasok per brand may patong yan lalo na pag may demand. Just imagine ung 1080 founders, 32k lang after conversion, 35k puhunan nila plus tax pero 39k bentahan

Akala ko nga mga 50k ung 1080 eh. Hahaha! Hopefully around 14k-15k lang, gonna sell my GPU and get one the moment it gets here. $200 card equal to a 980? Yes please.
