Following up the conclusion of a successful Closed Beta run from October 13 to 20, Run Up Philippines is proud to announce the arrival of the Open Beta phase of its massively online business simulation browser game, Business Tycoon Online Philippines (PH) yesterday, at 3:00 P.M. PHT.
What is Business Tycoon Online?
An Economic Crash
Our story begins in Bolton, a prosperous city that has reaped the benefits of being a trade hub for more than a century, thanks to several harbors that have made it a favorite stopover for merchants. But as with all good things, Bolton came tumbling down following a nationwide economic crash. Businesses dried up, investors left, and the city went from a thriving center of trade to a virtual ghost town.
Just as it looked like Bolton hit rock bottom, a young man named Albert Williams arrived in the city. Albert carried a burning ambition, and in a city that was a shell of its former self, he saw just another opportunity to make his fortune. And so he worked tirelessly over the years to found his very first company. News of Albert’s diligence spread like wildfire, rekindling hopes among the locals that they too could make their own fortunes.
Albert eventually became one of the city’s richest tycoons, and caught the attention of outsiders. Investors soon began pouring in, their combined efforts helping to revitalize Bolton’s once-dead economy. And so Bolton enjoyed a rebirth, with businesses growing out of ruin, stronger than ever.
Albert was recognized for his efforts in bringing the city back from the brink of collapse, and was elected as Bolton’s very first foreign mayor. His first decree was to change Bolton’s name into one that would reflect its hard-won prosperity: “Liberty City.â€
Mayor Albert also implemented several policies that favored start up companies and young businessmen. The result was that Liberty City experienced a steady stream of fresh new faces, each burning with the same ambition Albert had. Today, Albert’s successors still carry out their benefactor’s legacy, maintaining Liberty City’s reputation as one of the biggest commercial hubs in the world.

You have just arrived in Liberty City, an aspiring businessman hoping to make it big. But before you become the metropolis’ next captain of industry, there’s quite a lot of work to do. To help you get started, here’s a rundown of some of BTO’s biggest features, and how they’ll contribute to your success:
1. Build your own character
The center of your business empire will of course be you. Customize your three attributes (Strength, Wisdom, Leadership). Mingle with Liberty City’s social elite to build powerful connections that can either benefit your business, or your social standing.
- Strategy: to add employees’ Attributes of Execution and Management
- Wisdom: to add speed of producing goods and gaining material
- Leadership: to increase company’s revenue
2. Choose an industry
Pick one of four industries that best suits your business style: Entertainment, Catering , Service, and Sales. You’ll start out with a store, but as you business gets bigger, you can even build your own factories to ensure steady supplies.
3. Select a secretary
Choose a secretary whose personality matches perfectly with your own tastes. Not only are these office beauties easy on the eyes, but their diligence goes a long way to make running your rising empire a lot easier! As the saying goes after all, behind every man’s success is a woman. Twelve (12) secretaries are available, including two males
4. Hire Capable Employees
Every empire needs an army, and yours are employees who are just as fired up as you are to make it big in Liberty City! Employees can be assigned to six classes, while a color-coded meter reflects their performance (from best to worst): Orange, Red, Purple, Blue, Green, and White.
And just like any army, employees work best when they’re properly equipped and trained. Invest in training that will teach them essential skills, or present them with attire and accessories that will boost their stats!
5. City Hall
Being a good businessman has its perks, with one being eligible to be selected as a ranking member of City Hall, a status of authority even among tycoons! Just don’t let all that power get to your head – the players can have you impeached if you don’t do a good job.
6. Become a Media Darling
Giving your company a good image is as important as any ludicrous business deal. When used properly, the media can endear you to the public, or damage the reputation of a business rival. You will have four specific types of media to deal with: newspaper, radio, magazine, TV and Internet.
7. Bell Labs
Bell Laboratories is always on the lookout for the more charitable tycoons who are willing to donate to their research. In return, the lab will eventually allow you to upgrade your attire, or even combine vehicles and medals into more powerful items!
