The Card integrates Gigabyte’s famous windforce cooler with 3 fan for superior cooling. The card also supports 8k display running @ 60Hz via 2 Display Port 1.3 connectors. And lastly, 16.8M RGB Lighting.
The card is factory overclocked which means that its base and boost clocks are higher than the nvidia’s recommended specifications with it having 8+2 power phases compared to the founder’s 5+1. To achieve consistent performance, Gigabyte binned the GP-104 chips to be included in G1 Gaming line. Gigabyte calls this GPU-Gauntlet which they select the chips that is able to perform their target minimum specification(clock speed).
Gigabyte uses their Windforce 3X cooler to tame the 1080 beast. We can expect better cooling performance over the founders edition that hit 82c in almost every review released with the 1080. With the cooling headroom is also more potential for overclocking. At Nvidia’s 1080 launch we manage to see a slide with the card hitting 2.2Ghz while maintaining a comfortable 67c temperature. With exceptional coolers from these AIB partners, we might see some this dream come to reality.
And ofcourse, what is a powerful card without the cherry-on-top RGB lighting? Gigabyte also decided to omit the Windforce name on the side of the card and replaced it with their label, Gigabyte. Aside from that change, there is also a feature carried over from the Xtreme Gaming series which is the Fan Stop mode. Previously, the LED indicator only lit blue, but now is 16.8M RGB capable.
Lastly, the sexy backplate in all its glory.
Here’s the full specifications of the card for you guys.
