According to a recent posting in popular benchmarking software Geekbench’s database, Intel is readying a 6-core mobile SKU as part of its 8th-gen Core processor series based on the Coffee Lake architecture. Intel has recently let the cat out of the bag with the announcement of the first 8th-gen processor products as well as a tease for the Coffee Lake desktop processors sporting 6-cores.
The posting on the Geekbench database shows us that the processor is clearly a mobile part and not a desktop-on-mobile setup with the notation of being a Coffee Lake H part. The posting lists a 6-core, 12-thread processor sporting 9MB of L3 cache and has a base frequency of 2.6Ghz.
The lower clock speeds is a signature Intel design for its mobile processors to keep TDPs low whilst still offering excellent Turbo Boost frequencies under single- and dual-core utilization. The score is notable for easily overtaking quad-core desktop results with its 19,129 points. Single-threaded performance is nothing astonishing although it is quite understandable given the low clock speed and power-management that the mobile platform natively has.
