ComputerBase.de is reporting that they have reached out to Intel for confirmation on Meteor Lake’s full product stack particularly desktop. In a statement to PC World, Intel CCG head Michelle Johnston Holthaus “implied” that Meteor Lake will be available for all client form factors.
ComputerBase.de reached out to Intel to clarify this further, citing previous statements from Intel that Meteor Lake has only been shown to be a mobile-only form factor. Intel has responded to the publication stating that “desktop” applications for Meteor Lake are in the form of all-in-ones and mini PCs for desktops using BGA CPUs.
This is not a completely new strategy and Intel’s NUC lineup are desktop client PCs with specific SKUs utilizing laptop BGA CPUs.
Intel has shown 125W TDP Meteor Lake in their slides but this could just be the top end HX-class SKUs of Meteor Lake which will probably arrive later next year.
