Microsoft Philippines held a press last October 16th at the Makati Shangri-La, to announce the partnership between its flagship web browser, Internet Explorer 10, and touchscreen game Contré Jour. The latter, for those unfamiliar with it, Contré Jour is one of last year’s highest-selling iPad games, and a pretty good one at that. And now, the game will be available online to pretty much everyone thanks to this tie-up.
Windows Client Business lead Mae Rivera-Moreno was on hand to open up the proceedings before bringing in main speaker Jonathan Wong, Internet Explorer Lead for the Asia Pacific region. Wong introduced attendees to Internet Explorer 10’s new features and how it works on a touchscreen device, such as Microsoft’s recently released Surface tablet.
The main part of the presentation was a showcase of IE 10’s HTML5 and multi-touch features. Accompanied by the game’s dreamlike soundtrack, Jonathan Wong walked us through a number of the Contré Jour’s opening levels before moving on to the Internet Explorer 10-themed levels, most of which require multi-touch to solve.
Along with the Contré Jour showcase, Jonathan Wong also talked about other tie-ups such as Atari Arcade and Pulse, the former being HTML5-built versions of classic Atari arcade games and the latter being a slick, easy-to-use news reading service.
When asked about why they chose Contré Jour for the tie-up, Jonathan Wong mentioned that they wanted something unique and ambitious, so that’s why they went the said game, out of all the titles they had available. He also adds something about being on the lookout for future partnerships.
Contré Jour is now playable online from any browser.
