Following its launch of the powerful NF-A12x25 120mm fans featuring Sterrox LCP material, Noctua is revamping some of its product to utilize the new fans’ improved performance. Updated versions of the Noctua NH-U12, NH-U14S, NH-C14S, NH-D15 and NH-L9x65 coolers were present on their showcase during COMPUTEX. Along with performance improvements, Noctua will also be making revisions to clearance for maximum compatibility with modern motherboards, memory and case compatibility.
Revisions to the NH-U12 and NH-U14S will feature the new NF-A12x25 120mm fans featuring Sterrox material. Sterrox is a new material polymer that allows Noctua to eliminate certain concerns from previous models featuring more traditional plastic materials. The improvements in the material allows Noctua to create quieter fans which also have smaller clearance from the frame. This has allowed Noctua to deliver 30% better performance on their coolers using the new fans than their previous models.
Noctua also showcased its new 5v fans for more quieter and lower power applications. The fans come in various sizes.
Noctua’s flagship dual-tower the NH-D15 will also receive an update with an increase in heatpipes going from 6 to 7.
A little sidetrack on our visit with Noctua, this little device which Noctua uses to demonstrate just how powerful their NF-A12x25 fans are. Featuring an inhouse-developed, 3D printed funnel, Noctua was able to create a nifty little desk fan. While its just a concept piece, anyone who is from the same anus of hell as I am, Metro Manila, will understand how handy this thing is. Talking about performance, this thing has enough push to bring air at over 1 meter away. Noctua isn’t making any bold claims on this one but it’s something we’re looking forward to trying once we get our hands on the new fans.
Due to the different nature of HEDT and server sockets, Noctua has also made special models of their coolers which are compatible with HEDT and server board sockets including Intel’s LGA3647 socket.
To demonstrate the performance of their newer tech, Noctua setup a test display which shows a Noctua NH-D15 and the newer NH-U12 cooler.
The most striking display for us on Noctua’s showcase was the Chromax line of coolers. This is Noctua’s anti-brown line following constant demand from users that want something else aside from Noctua’s signature brown color. Chromax versions of the new coolers will be on the way and they will be priced a little bit higher than standard Noctua releases due to the black-out treatment reminiscent of how it works in the sneaker market where black-out models tend to cost higher.
With the introduction of the newer fans, Noctua will be relegating their older models under the “redux” line which will serve as the more mainstream offering from the company. The fans will sport a neutral grey scheme and are now available.
