Granted, Resident Evil 6 wasn’t actually what you’d call widely successful in terms of reception. The latest installment in the franchise was somehow a testament that the horror-survival genre is now dead to Capcom, and all we have now are Chris Redfield in his steroid frenzy and everyone’s fanboyism of Leon Kennedy. However, with Resident Evil 7 now in the works, it seems the company wants to go back to the franchise’s horror roots and relive the glory days that we’ve enjoyed in the streets of Raccoon City, or inside the mansion if you would prefer.
According to the Chief Executive of Tokyo-based game industry consultancy Kantan Games Dr. Serkan Toto, Capcom will be going back to the game’s roots with the upcoming installment, and it will essentially be a clean slate. Furthermore, Jordan Amaro of Metal Gear Solid V and PT has also been hired to join the development team.
1) About Resident Evil 7: Yes, it's in development. The entire game will go back to RE's horror roots and (essentially) be a clean slate.

But then again, while that’s all great news, it’s all just a rumor for now. Are we hoping for the franchise to return to its roots? Yes, we do. Until then, it’s best to take any rumors with a grain of salt until Capcom takes it upon itself and announces everything officially at E3.

I do not know about other gamers, but as far as I am concerned, Capcom had been doing just fine with their releases of the RE titles since RE4. Sure it may not be as revolutionary as RE4 may have been, but those games that followed it are still as fun nonetheless. Testament to that is the sheer replays I did with the games in trying to unlock some things in-game. Then again, that’s just me.
