Sony is announcing a new loyalty program for Playstation gamers called Playstation Stars wherein players will be rewarded points for accomplishing activities and campaigns.ย These points can be used to redeem rewards including PSN wallet funds and PlayStation store products.
In a bid to increase support for its new subscription model, the new PlayStation Stars campaign is a goal-oriented, rewards program to keep players playing games. Their monthly check-in campaign via PlayStars will task players to play any game to receive a reward with more engaged players then tasked to win tournaments, earn specific trophies or in its hardest tasks, to gain a Platinum first in the local timezone.
There’s no detail yet about rewards and the amount of points rewarded for winning a tournament or doing a Platinum speedrun but other than wallet funds and items, Playstation Stars seems like an extension of the Awards system but Sony is also adding a few bits and pieces and the program is still ripe for more additions.
Also, as part of PlayStation Stars, we are unveiling a new type of reward called โdigital collectibles.โ Collectibles are as diverse as our portfolio of products and franchises. They are digital representations of things that PlayStation fans enjoy, including figurines of beloved and iconic characters from games and other forms of entertainment, as well as cherished devices that tap into Sonyโs history of innovation. There will always be a new collectible to earn, an ultra rare collectible to strive for, or something surprising to collect just for fun.
