CONCLUSION
As most platinum-rated power supplies command a premium, its very understandable that the EarthWatts Platinum 550w’s retail price is at Php4,300. Checking out other offering in the market, not much solutions even carry a Platinum certification at 550 watts which puts the Antec offering at a very good spot especially for individuals who value efficiency and power-saving. Speaking of power savings, here’s a chart of out test system which consumes an average of around 400w off the socket with maximum system load. Say for example you game for 6 hours a day, and let’s just say you’re on max load during those times:
Now assuming this is all you’re paying for (and we bet it ain’t and btw that’s in Phillipine currency), we’re seeing some very good decrease in wasted consumption and proportional savings in electricity cost. Now we’ve included theoretical 100% figures in our graph to give us an idea of how much we’re going to save given the best conditions.
All in all, Antec has created a very quality power supply that should fit nicely with any PC. It may not be modular nor flashy but it does its job nicely. Antec backs its EarthWatts Platinum power supplies with 3 years warranty.
