NVIDIA got backed into a corner with the announcement of the R9 290X series cards last year and with initial benchmarks showing substantial performance advantage over its Titan and GTX780, NVIDIA was forced to retaliate. NVIDIA announced the Geforce GTX780 Ti, a fully unlocked GK110 featuring the complete 2880 CUDA cores that the silicon offers.
To complement our reference card review, ASUS has sent us their custom-cooled variant of the R9 290X for review today and we are going to pit it against the reference card รย to make this review really relevant, we have the GeForce GTX 780 Ti in tow as well in the comparison. Also, we are proud to announce the inclusion of 4K UltraHD benchmarks in our tests.
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 780 Ti
The NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 780 Ti is a full gamer card. Whereas the GTX TITAN has double precision floating point running at full speed, the GTX 780 Ti trades this off for a fully unlocked 2880 CUDA cores versus the TITANรขโฌ™s 2668 CUDA cores, which are also clocked higher at 875Mhz and with GPU Boost 2.0, can boost up to 925Mhz. The GTX 780 Ti also features plenty of VRAM with 3GB GDDR5 memory running at a staggering 7000MHz.
