Closer Look – Kraken G10
The Kraken G10 is a very basic package featuring nothing more than a backplate, the retention bracket and an extra 92mm fan.
Installation – Kraken G10
Installation of the Kraken G10 is somewhat of a chore as we’ve seen many in online forums complaining about it so here’s a quick picture guide to run you down on how your Kraken G10 and Asetek cooler should look like built.
First off, strip down your GPU. Take note that SOME brands MAY void your warranty when you remove your factory cooler so before you jump the gun, make sure you’re 100% sure you want to go through with this. After removing your stock cooler, ready your Asetek AIO and Kraken G10 bracket. Of course for our case, we have the Kraken X31.
In our application, since the 660 Ti PCB is so small the installation of the auxiliary fan is optional but here’s an image to show you how it should look like. The fan should be blowing towards the GPU PCB that means the side where it blows air out should face upwards.
After that, remove your Kraken X31 mounting bracket. you can do that by just snapping off the clip below the mounting bracket and twisting off the mount.
Now you need to ready your backplate. Position the mounting screws in the position that align with your GPU mounting holes.
Align it like so that you can check that all holes and screws align.
Mount the backplate with the screws secured in place.
Place down your Kraken X31 block on the securing holes and push it down to your GPU.
Secure the pump block in place with the provided screws and washers. Tighten as much as hand pressure can provide for a secure fit.
And there you have it. You are now cooling your GPU with your Kraken X31 with the help of the Kraken G10 bracket. Best option when mounting the radiator is a bottom-mount with the air venting outside but if you have a very powerful top exhaust like a 240mm radiator or a high airflow top vent, you can also place the rad in a pull cofig.
