Thermaltake is knownย for their PC gaming products such as Gaming PC Cases, PSUs, Mice, Keyboards, Headsets, and accessories. But at this year’s Computex, Thermaltake introduced a new product, the TteSports Contour.

The Contour is Thermaltake’s ticket to the mobile gaming scene, but will it be able to earn them the recognition from the mobile gaming crowd? So, to know if it would make a ripple in the mobile gaming crowd or would just be another box in the shelves, we take a closer look at this new product of Thermaltake.

Closer Look:

The TteSports Countour is a mobile game controller that is built for the iOS gaming crowd. It uses Bluetooth 4.0 to connect to the iOS device of the user. It is compatible to apple devices that are running iOS 7 or later. Its buttons, D-pad, and analog sticks are easy to press and are easy for the fingers to reach and weave through. The device mount, which is located and hidden in the middle part of the controller, can hold up to the size of an iPhone 6. Its device mount has protective rubbers to prevent scratches on your device when it is mounted on the Contour, and it also helps on keeping your phone to be tightly mounted on the Contour. The only thing that users should be aware of, is the shoulder buttons. The R2 and L2 buttons in particular, these shoulder buttons are prone to accidental touches if you’re the kind of gamer who idles the middle fingers on top of the R2 and L2.

Battery Charging ย Time and Usage:

Charging the Contour would be the most boring part, it takes more than five hours to fully charge the battery. As a compensation, the usage time of a fully charged Contour mobile gaming controller can last up to 10 whole hours, thanks to its Bluetooth 4.0, which is optimized for energy efficiency. Yes! Your phone will be the first to give up. And since it can last more than eight hours, this mobile game controller is a good travel companion for mobile gamers.

Connecting the Contour to an iOS device, and its buttons response:ย

Connecting the Contour to an iOS device is as easy as 1, 2, 3. You just need to make sure that the bluetooth of your iOS device is functioning properly and that it is On, then you just power up the Contour by holding the power button and it will scan for available/compatible devices. The power indicator of the Contour will keep on blinking until an iOS device is paired with it. Finally, you just need to select the Ttesports Contour on your iOS device.

The button response is a real stunner, we tried it out with Real Racing III and Lego Star Wars. We never felt any delays when we we’re playing Real Racing III, which needs precise response from the controls to be able to hit the hard turns on the race track. The same thing can be said on the Lego Star Wars, if the Contour is not responsive then we wont be able to initiate combos to destroy droids and to dismantle some with the force.

Conclusion

Being the first mobile game controller of Thermaltake, some compatibility issues with some games would arise. But since it is a new product, give it time and we’re pretty sure that the issues will be resolved. Another thing to note is the unconfigurable buttons, but then again, since this is their first shot at the mobile gaming scene, we’ll also give it time and we hope that TteSports would come up with an app that will let users configure the controls the way they want to.ย Tho, new in the field of mobile gaming, the TteSports Contour proves that it is a force to be reckoned with in the mobile gaming section.

We can look at the Contour as an iOS only controller but that further limits the fact that its quite an expensive offering at $79. Without support for Android, there’s really very little libraries of games that actually makes this controller a really worthy buy and anyone who really likes these kinds of products mostly game not outside, but in lounge areas or travel where they can really engage with their games so an investment like this should include more benefits to the user.

So, if you’re an avid fan of the iOS or someone who’s got tons of iOS games lined up to be played, and is eyeing for a controller that has that console-feel to it then you need not look anywhere. The TteSports Contour could just be what you’re looking for. With its fast, responsive buttons, thanks to Bluetooth 4.0, you’ll be able to to hit those combos as precise as you want it to be. Its long lasting battery ensures that you’ll be able to play your games on-the-go and specially when on a long and boring travel.

no you can’t, its a tap optimized game so controllers arent really designed for it but you can check with the devs. for this one, its only iPhone compatible so you need to take that into account also
