Packaging and Contents
The Seasonic Platinum-1000 arrives in a grayish-silver box with a product shot in the top. The Seasonic logo and 80 PLUS logo are printed in hologram and the Platinum designation is proudly printed along with the beauty shot of the product. Note that only Seasonic’s X-series (80 PLUS Gold) and P-series (80 PLUS Platinum) have this box styling. Both 80 PLUS Silver- and Bronze-rated products are designated under a different product line.
Inside the packaging, the power supply is protected from bumps and scratches by a foam lining and is enclosed in a Seasonic velvet pouch. The connector cables are kept in a silver (or platinum)/black bag.
The Seasonic Platinum-1000 includes a user manual, a warranty card, screws, velcro straps for cable management and a mini-screwdriver.
The main PSU is shipped inside a velvet string pouch with the Seasonic branding.
The other bag included in the package holds all the cables for the unit. Again, the Seasonic Platinum-1000 is a fully modular unit meaning all of its power connectors are removable and used as needed.
Included in the package are a total of 14 cables, noting the inclusion of 6x PCIe power connectors which is good enough for high-end triple-GPU configurations.

The Seasonic Platinum-1000 measures a hefty 190mm x 150mm x 86mm, with 190mm is typical length for a 1000W PSU. Lower capacity models will be shorter. The size increase is due to the increased number and size of components inside to deliver the high capacity of these units. Take note of the length of your PSU before purchasing as some chassis will have size constraints.
Some Seasonic products have passive cooling mode during certain operating conditions (some models have no fans at all, see Platinum Fanless series) and in the Seasonic Platinum-1000, the company has decided to include a toggle switch to make the option user-selectable. A blue label in the front of the unit indicates switch modes with Normal and Hybrid options. Normal ramps up the fan as load increases even at low loading. Hybrid operation puts the Seasonic Platinum-1000 in Fanless mode when the unit is under low (<20%) loads scenario. Oh and that blue label that says remove it before using? Yes, you should definitely remove it as it blocks a couple of modular connector ports.
The Seasonic Platinum-1000, as stated above, includes 14 connectors but the main unit itself only has 13. The lower-most PCI-E/CPU port is interchangeable but you cannot use them both at the same time. Many overclocking boards require an ATX12V 4+4 and an EPS12V 8-pin connector for more power during extreme overclocking and those with quad-GPU requirements will need more than the included 6 PCI-e connectors so please take note of that. Given that the unit is 1000w, a quad-GPU configuration is a bit above its capacity.
Fully populated, the Seasonic Platinum-1000 looks like a total beast. The included straps will help in cable-management.

Nice Seasonic!
Nice Seasonic!
wooooooo *drool*
epic yan. i was suppose to get that but out of stock sa distro. ended up with a RM1000 lol
oh, di mo na inantay? taas ng demand dito lalo na nung bitcoin craze
di ko na nahintay. excited na ako dun sa r9-280x ko na tatlong beses ko pina RMA lol
3 times? anong brand yan sir?
sapphire r9-280x toxic
What’s wrong sa kanya?
high failure rate sa early batches ng card. problem is not limited to sapphire but is also prevalent in other brands as well. the defective cards are producing artifacts/glitches/or whatever you like to call them right out of the box at stock settings. the exact reason is unknown but a lot of people are blaming the hynix memory used for the cards. earlier batches of the sapphire 280x toxic used hynix, succeeding batches used elpida. the problem wasnt completely fixed but the fail rate for the succeeding batches was significantly reduced. no amount of troubleshooting of any kind will fix it except for RMA. my first 2 cards were hynix, my card now is elpida.
ofcourse the newer elpida cards are slower in mining than hynix, but since i dont mine, that thing doesnt matter to me .. haha
pchub has an ongoing sale right now on the sapphire 280x toxic priced at 15k. i kept asking them what version is the vbios of these cards for sale and the memory used.. they couldnt answer me. its tempting to crossfire but without the proper info on which version they are selling, i’d rather not risk getting a defective card.
that news flew by me even though i had like 3-4 R9 280X for review. thanks for the info. I see some 280X right now going for as low as 10K on sale. They say its new but can’t say for sure. Yes, very tempted also but I’d wait out for a proper maxwell. Heck even a 750ti with SLI support would be on my target list if ever it comes out.
im not surprised it did not show during your review. i have the impression that engineering / review samples are usually stress tested first before they are sent out.
yann!!!
