We have another SSD for review this time around its from Apacer. While that name won’t immediately remind everyone of something, those who are familiar with the Apacer brand will instantly recognize the brand from their wide-range of products primarily flash memory solutions and the company’s reputation for being a budget-friendly company will certainly be at home with many early system builders since the company has been around for quite a while. Today we’re taking a look at Apacer’s new line of SSDs, the Apacer AS510S Pro II line of SSDs. Rated for 530/410MB read/write performance, the Apacer AS510S SSD is rated to hang with the upper-mainstream bracket. Let’s take a closer look and see how this drive performs. Read on!
- Support SATA III interface of 6.0 Gbps
- AES 256-bit encryption and decryption
- DEVSLP mode Support to reduce power consumption
- S.M.A.R.T. command support

Performance Testing

Maximum Potential Performance
ATTO Disk Benchmark benchmarks a drive’s read and write speeds with increasing file sizes and graphs them.
Write Performance
For potential write testing, HD Tune was used to measure the drive’s write performance. Again, we focus on the average results for real-world relevance.
Crystal DiskMark
Crystal Disk Mark is storage benchmarking software was developed by “hiyohiyo” of Japan, and is available for free. Crystal Disk Mark measures sequential, and random read/write speeds of storage devices.
Real World Copy Tests
We’ve taken our compression test files, a collection of images, documents and other files ranging from 1KB to 50MB amounting to 3,310 files for 3.34GB and a single, large 12GB file. We’re posting the raw transfer results for your reference.
Conclusion
While Apacer isn’t talking specs, the performance alone is solid enough to rank in the upper mainstream segment of SSDs. Read performance is what we’d expect from current-gen SSDs and while write performance does float in the upper mainstream portion in our tests, in the best conditions though, the Apacer AS510S Pro II SSD can perform so much more. At over 550/530 MB peak read/write performance, there’s so much potential in this SSD.
Right now Apacer is slowly pushing this SSD out in the market and we really don’t have much info about availability. We estimate the 256GB model to retail for around $120 but street prices could be lower. While we find it hard to spot this SSD around in stores, we have no problems recommending it given its performance figures. If you can spot the Apacer AS510S Pro II Series SSD for under $100 for the 256GB model, by all means it’s a good choice.
Apacer backs the AS510S Pro II Series SSD with a 3-year warranty. We give it our B2G Recommend Award!
