Unboxing Naenka Runner Diver Bone Conduction Headphones
The packaging itself is wrapped with a thin layer of shrunk plastic. The headphone comes packed in a rather premium-looking box highlighting the product’s look on the front and specifications on the back. Nothing worth else mentioning here.
Sliding off the first layer of the packaging reveals an exquisite-looking black box. Although, the box itself is a fingerprint lover.
The packaging is sturdy enough to handle accidental drops or medium damages during transportation. It’s fairly easy to open and once you remove the top cover of the box, you’ll be presented with the headphone.
The headphone looks really nice here. It feels premium to touch and its flexibility is outstanding. The headphone is held inside by a molded hard plastic. Removing the headphone and the plastic reveals the compartment that contains the included accessories.
The packaging comes with a pair of earplugs that can be used to enhance the experience when using the headphone. The earplugs also come with a casing which is a nice touch and the quality of the material is superb. Other than the earplugs, it also comes with a charging cable. Be aware that this is not a fully USB end-to-end cable. It’s a USB charging cable with a gold pin magnetic attachment at the other end specifically design for this headphone. Therefore, it’s best to note that you will not be able to easily replace the charging cable if it ever gets broken.
Naenka, however, has guaranteed that the charging cables will be replaced for free if yours has been damaged within its warranty period. Furthermore, it will always be available for purchase on their website.
Other than the two accessories, it also comes with a user manual.
Closer-Look Naenka Runner Diver Bone Conduction Headphones
The headphone is fairly light weighted and we find that as an advantage. It will not cause fatigue as fast as others would have in a long duration of use. However, if there’s one thing that gets on our nit-picky side, it’s the rough edges of the silicone body. At this price point, one would assume to have the best premium product achieving perfection in all terms. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Yours truly is a perfectionist therefore seeing the cutout-out edge of the silicon body is sour to the eyes. It makes things look cheap in terms of quality and aesthetics.
The headphone comes with functionalities that can be controlled by the built-in buttons. There’s a + and – button on the right side of the headphone and they work as volume control and music navigation. On the outer case of the drivers, you will find the power button located at the left drum driver. The power button can be used to control the power state of the headphone, voice control, calls control, connectivity control, and switching between modes. Lastly, on the left side where the volume control is located, you will find a bulky section where the battery is stored. It also has the charging port placed along there which we find an odd place to place the charging port. You may be asking why but experience has taught us that it will become a smudge-gathering corner. Means, debris, and other dirt can be stuck there including dead skin cells, body oil, dirt, dust, and more. So this headphone requires proper maintenance if you wish for it to last.
Last but not least are the flat drivers that produce a vibration through your bones to generate audio that you can only hear. The surface and cover are also made of silicon. Just below the left side drum, you will find the microphone.
Performance Naenka Runner Diver Bone Conduction Headphones
In terms of ease of use, the headphone is definitely user-friendly. Might take you a couple of minutes to get the hang of it but over time, you won’t even notice that you are already a master. However, you will definitely need to consult the user manual. Despite being limited to 3 buttons, the functionality is overwhelming. You will find yourself asking how to do this, how to do that as you use the headphone, and it is mind-boggling that you can do so much functionality with just 3 buttons.
For comfortability, the headphone is super flexible but we find one issue where comfort becomes a problem. That’s when used by individuals with a significant size in comparison to average. I, as an example, am a heavyweight thus my upper body part up to the neck is thicker and larger than well-fit individuals. From my experience alone, I tend to notice how I started wishing that the neckband of the headphone is longer. As it is right now, it feels short for me which makes it difficult to ensure that the flat drum driver is well fitted to my facial bone. Other than that, it should well fit most people.
Sound quality-wise, the audio quality is clear and crisp. To enhance the experience, it is highly recommended to use the earplugs that it came with. But for daily outdoor use, it’s best to use it without the earplugs so you are always aware of your surroundings while listening to your favorite song or podcast. Still, one must keep into consideration that this is a bone conduction headphone. So you need to manage your expectations. If you’re looking for an upgrade for your earphones or headphones and you want the sound quality at best, then it’s best to look elsewhere. Otherwise, this headphone is perfect for those that want good quality audio without compromising their senses of their surroundings.
Final Thoughts…
The Naenka runner diver bone conduction headphone is a superb audio driver. It’s perfect for those that love to listen to music or podcasts as they do their activity without compromising their senses and worrying about losing a piece. It’s definitely not for everybody and the consumers it caters to are very specific. Although do not let that discourage you if you find bone conduction headphones interesting. Naenka has truly innovated its design for this bone conduction headphone in comparison to its first model. The quality of the product overall is excellent but it has a few nicks and cringes that may become a deal breaker for osie ones. But, if you can live with its imperfection, which doesn’t compromise the performance overall, then you got yourself a worthy contender on your list.
The ability to listen to music or your favorite podcast as you do your activities is a difficult task. Most would settle for loudspeakers but it’s a different case when it comes to the public environment. That’s where Naenka’s bone conduction headphones come in. It’s an excellent outdoor audio driver for those who value safety and doesn’t want to compromise their senses. It’s not a great replacement for your audio needs though but it definitely introduces a new experience for listening. We highly recommend checking them out. Especially if you have an active lifestyle and love to listen as you do your activities.
