Introduction
It has never been this competitive in the QHD space and the demand for high-refresh rate 1440p monitors have shifted from upper mainstream to basically upper-entry level. As 1080p monitors are slowly becoming more and more accessible, so too has 1440p displays. And 27″ is now the new sweet spot for general users that want a all-around monitor for gaming, work and daily use.
Today we’ll be looking at a pair of monitors from Viewsonic both sporting 2560x1440p resolution with >160hz refresh rates: the 27″ VX2758A-2K-PRO and the VX3219-2K-PRO. In this review we’ll focus on the 27″ display, the VX2758A-2K-PRO, particularly the version that has 170hz. The PRO in the name also doesn’t denote professional application as that is under the ColorPro series.
Both monitors are targeted for gaming primarily and in this review I’ll share with you how I feel after trying out both monitors. Read on to find out more!

Closer Look
The Viewsonic VX2758A-2K-PRO comes in a brown cardboard box. The panel is sandwiched between styroam along with the cables a monitor stand assembly. One thing I have to note is that this monitor does have various variants (at different prices) featuring different refresh rates. The box does show the refresh so please check before you go home, if you’re buying at a physical store.
The monitor stands screws in places on both the base and back. The VESA compliant monitor mount works with any other VESA-compatible screens so the monitor stand here is pretty universal. Just a reference for future use.
And here we have the VX2758A-2K-PRO and this is not a criticism, but Zowie esports monitor owners like me would do a double because of the resemblance. To be fair, there are plenty of monitors that share this design and that’s a sad reality for the VX2758A-2K-PRO if you want to stand out.
The Viewsonic VX2758A-2K-PRO features a height-adjustable stand which can pan left or right and also tilt upwards and a bit downwars for the perfect angle.
In use, the Viewsonic VX2758A-2K-PRO is just all business. No flashy LED lights or extra glowing logo. Its simple design just melts in the background would work well for even professional settings.
User Experience & Conclusion
QHD is easily the new mainstream resolution right now with 1080p either pushing entry-level (as it has for almost 20 years now) or extreme esports when its got refresh rates past 360hz. But QHD represents the mid-point and where most GPUs are headed right now especially with upscaling technology and frame generation pumping more framerates but the larger resolution, putting all the stress on the GPU.
At 170hz, there’s plenty of latitude here for gamers that are in this price range. Doing some screen test we get 400 nits brightness at out-of-box settings with the brightness at max. Display latency is above for your reference.
Wrapping things up, this monitor is marketed at different tiers as Viewsonic itself has at least 3 internal gaming sub-brands its using. The Viewsonic VX2758A-2K-PRO may also be available in different stand options which could further add to the confusion. Please check with your dealer for actual product.
The Viewsonic VX2758A-2K-PRO is an everyday monitor for the QHD gamer on a budget and the only competition it has are no-name brands in terms of pricing. Its primary competition though are older monitors from rival names like ASUS who has transitioned their 1440p panels into their TUF GAMING line and are now introducing ROG Strix sub-PHP20,000 monitors.
That said, it’s an okay monitor. It offer very good price-to-performance with the Viewsonic VX2758A-2K-PRO doing many of what pricier models with gamer bling bling or more expensive stands do for less but otherwise, its the same 1440p monitor you expect to get some good gaming on. An easy recommendation.
