Last month we conducted a poll in our website to see what our readers were planning to do with the Ryzen 5000 CPUs are out. With the mass market appeal of AMD as well as their newfound success as the performance leader, they finally managed to step out of Intel’s shadow, cementing the Ryzen line-up as a very successful product, much like what the Athlon64 did for AMD many years ago.
In our poll, we asked which CPU readers will be choosing among the launch Ryzen stack. Readers can also respond if they’re going with Intel or just sticking to their older CPUs. As the days after AMD’s launch went on, it was apparent AMD is not going to be pushing a lot of the Zen3 CPUs. Many users surmised that it could be because of the COVID pandemic plus a lot of other possible causes. Public sympathy has always sided with AMD but their current actions are turning away some users.
Regardless, users decide what they want to use and in our poll we can see thatย 27.27% of our readers voted that they will be sticking with their current CPU. This is closely followed, to no surprise, by the Ryzen 5600X. At $299, the Ryzen 5600X is the most desirable CPU amongst the stack. AMD decided to increase their asking price with the Zen3-based Ryzen products but that doesn’t seem to deter many users, with promised performance gains seemingly offsetting costs. As of this writing, this doesn’t seem to be the case, with retail price for AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs in the Philippines now currently reaching heavily inflated costs due to retailers having to source via parallel imports or follow AMD Philippines’ distributors bundle model.
Back to the poll, the Ryzen 5950X is our 3rd popular option at 15.15%, the $799 CPU offering the fastest Zen3 experience. Up next at 13.64% of votes we have people deciding to go with Intel. Despite the apparent strength of the Ryzen 5800X, some of our readers feel that Intel CPUs are the better choice than AMD’s Ryzen 5000.
The poll is closed out by the 5900X at second to last with 10.61% of the votes with the Ryzen 7 5800X 8-core CPU sitting in the last spot. The results are listed below.
[totalpoll id=”108312″ screen=”results”]Thank you to everyone that participated in our poll. This December we’ll move on to motherboards. We ask you, our beloved readers, which mainstream motherboard brand is the best for you. As a supplementary question, we also ask what motherboard brand you’re currently using just in case your dream board isn’t your current board.
