To close the year out, we asked our readers which motherboard brand they feel is the best and which motherboard they are using. This is primarily motivated to close the year out on which brand communicated well with their customer-base and who had the most desirability in 2020. The survey results and our findings are below.
[totalpoll id=”109042″ screen=”results”]With asked our readers 2 questions for December: 1) what is the best motherboard brand according to you, the reader and 2) what motherboard are you using right now. We made it distinct to create a separation between desirability and adoption from the respondents and with the +/- 500 respondents our results show that 59.05% of our readers believe that ASUS is the best motherboard brand for them. This is also backed by 53.45% of the respondent being ASUS motherboard owners. In second pace is MSI gaining 17.24% of voters support for the best motherboard spot but the sits at 3rd place in adoption rate as they receive 16.38% adoption. Second in adoption and 3rd in motherboard brand value is GIGABYTE who has 15.52% votes as the best brand but gains better traction in users as they secure 2nd spot with 19.83% of actual GIGABYTE/AORUS board users. Rounding out the poll is ASRock with a 3.88% best brand voting and a 6.47% in adoption. The poll is closed out by COLORFUL, EVGA and BIOSTAR.
So what does this mean? As of this moment, Back2Gaming’s readerbase contains a predominantly US and Philippines-based origin. Much of our social media readers are Philippines-based but our search traffic is heavily US-based, this means that the only time we posted this survey was once during its publishing on Facebook. The rest was done through voluntary voting from readings.
Going back to our analysis of the results, its clear that ASUS is the most desirable brand right now for motherboard and by a huge margin. At nearly 60% votes, ASUS has a dominant position in the market in both popularity and adoption. This is followed by MSI who may not have the same use-rate, still show they’re strong with fans but only by around 2% as GIGABYTE is just trails by a hair behind MSI as the the third most desirable brand. This is ultimate swung in favor of GIGABYTE as more people use their motherboard vs. MSI and cuts a good chunk from ASUS as well. ASRock has larger adoption than their popularity. This means that most ASRock users may have voted towards the other leadings brands and are biding their time to upprade.
Now for COLORFUL, their market is primarily concentrated in China with a developing SEA market as well as in the US so the name of the brand isn’t so big in motherboards. Their GPU market is growing though and it’d be nice to see what they do in the coming months. For EVGA, their strength has always been their GPUs but their motherboards are excellent still. I personally use a Z390 Dark but with motherboards from them coming in at only 2 or 3 SKUs and are priced for enthusiasts, they don’t get the same love from the general users. The same can be said for BIOSTAR who may be doing well for themselves in some regions but their availability is working against them,
