Conclusion
Unlike other regions, the ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER OC launches at a lower price compared to the ROG Strix RTX 4080 in the Philippines. This still makes it one of the more expensive graphics cards on the market today, only surpassed by the RTX 4090. Across the board, there’s some movements in terms of increase like the CUDA core count, maximum boost clock which ASUS also puts a factory OC on top of with this OC model. This all comes packaged under the gigantic heatsink, covered by ASUS’ ROG Strix red and blue cooler which if you haven’t noticed it yet, actually has very minimal RGB for a premium “gaming” product.
There is no question that the RTX 4090 is still undisputed in its position as both the gaming GPU performance leader and GPU compute leader. But with that in mind, the RTX 4080 SUPER only trails against the RTX 4090 due to its sheer performance which is an another stratosphere but barring the RTX 4090, the RTX 4080 SUPER closes the gap against AMD’s Radeon RX 7900 XTX.
Picking out individual benchmarks though, many of which barely saw an increase in performance but those that can take advantage of the increase brought by the spec bump, do see some minor gains particularly some of the more tortuous games.
Its obvious this isn’t an upgrade nor a sidegrade for existing RTX 4080 owners so the immediate target market here are the enthusiasts and elite esport gamers that want the most bang for their premier buck but feel the RTX4090 is just too excessive.
We have a separate GPU compute and AI performance article following this review this week but glossing though some of the date, if you’re mostly focused on Stable Diffusion, you’re not getting much more with the new RTX 4080 SUPER versus an RTX 4070 Ti. You do get some performance benefits on multi-GPU and GPU accelerated applications.
And now it all boils down to price: at around PHP89,000 (give and take a few thousand depending on where you buy), the ASUS ROG STRIX RTX 4080 SUPER OC is a premium graphics card and the e-peen alone is worth it for most folks. For some, its trust in the brand and the feeling of owning an ROG product comes with its perk whether its in performance, quality or both. In the case of the ROG Strix RTX 4080 SUPER OC, ASUS’ ROG Strix cooler for this generation certainly brings with it major benefits in terms of cooling and power. This does come at the cost of being literally premium as well as being a chunky card.
All in all, NVIDIA wasn’t overselling the performance of their new RTX 40 SUPER series of graphics cards so its that last hurrah before another wave of GPUs and if you’re in this price bracket and haven’t gotten than price drop on the RTX 4090 you’ve been waiting for so long, perhaps its time reconsider your option.
The ASUS Strix RTX 4080 SUPER OC is backed by a 3-year warranty.
I give it my B2G Recommended seal but only if you’re going to use it for the next 5 years or so.

I often wonder if Asus really deserves their huge price premium versus the likes of Inno3D, Zotac and Palit
Tough question. Some people really buy into the brand and feel good owning one. I’m a Zotac guy but only because I prefer their warranty for reference cards versus Palit.
Miguel Araneta similar sentiments. Just add Php 10K+ and you can already get the RTX 4090.
John Francis Gamao yup. Even for their cheaper cards, I think the ROG and TUF 4070 Supers are not that far from the price of Palit and Inno3D 4070 Ti Supers (around 5-6K difference).
Miguel Araneta the TUF non OC model is good to buy if someone really likes Asus brand. It’s close to PH’s SRP but I’ll avoid the OC version of it. OC version price is an additional 8-9K for a measly 1-3 FPS difference.
