Today we’ll be taking a look at a group of GeForce RTX 4080 graphics cards and this article will focus on MSI’s flagship offering for the RTX 4080: the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X. Easily the most normal looking card in our launch review line-up, its still a gigantic card but one much less to cause issues with its width as the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X keeps to a tighter profile than other partner designs.
MSI’s SUPRIM X line-up veers away from the gamer-y flagship that MSI used to go for with the Lightning products but abandons the black and yellow for silver brushed metal on its housing along with a modern take on their GPU heatsink fin stack design. At $1380, the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X is considerably fairly priced but we’ll compare once I receive pricing advise for our local market. Still, the SUPRIM X isn’t a far departure from what we’re used to from MSI: the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X still features top-end components and is overlocked out of the box. Weirdly enough, I’ll point it out this early and say this card is aggressively tuned. This is a marketing sample and there’s a note on the card potentially suggesting its cherry picked but its idle wattage is fairly higher than normal.
We’ll talk about that and more as we dive further about the MSI RTX 4080 SURPRIM X. As I mentioned, the SUPRIM X card we have isn’t the biggest of the bunch. Its also not the heaviest at 2.376kg. Taking into consideration its size, its perhaps the densest by volume, maximizing its dimensions to fit its fin stack to provide optimal cooling.
MSI includes support rod as well as the 3x 8-pin PCIe to 12VHPWR power adapter with the MSI RTX 4080 SUPRIM X.
