Closer Look
Taking the Excalibur RGB outside the box, we can see that the keyboard itself is of solid build and quality. The classic design makes the keyboard great for casual gaming use or office use. The keyboard features the manufacturers logo and name along with its famous phrase “Break the Rules”.
The keyboard features a dimension of 450 mm x 145 mm x 24 mm. Quite a classic and simple design. Nothing much to feature on the side of the keyboard but somehow, I liked that Tesoro changed the “ESC” key by replacing it with their logo. On the side note though, it seems that Tesoro is expecting that consumers will use Excalibur with its stand. Why? the curvyness of the keys feels akward when the keyboard is flat. However, it feels just right when the stands are in use. I guess personal preference comes in on this one.
The feet stands is of nothing special but it features a locking mechanism to ensure gamers that the feet stand won’t flat down during intense gaming sessions.
Excalibur RGB Edition features a net design like rubber feet. The net design like of the keyboards rubber feet is a feature from Tesoro that makes the feet flexible in terms of surface tension. Making it accustom-able to any types of surface and assuring that the keyboard won’t slide during intense gaming sessions.
The back of the keyboard features four net like design rubber feet and two adjustable stand. The back also gives off that metallic cover look finish. The back also features the keyboards serial number, compliance, and some specifications.
The upper part of the numpad side features the manufacturers name “Tesoro”. Unfortunately, Â the Tesoro logo does not lit up when the keyboard’s back light lits up but the G, 9 and A signs, which signifies Caps Lock, Gaming Mode, and Numpad, does lit up although only in blue.
Now this is new to us as we have been reviewing Tesoro keyboards before. Usually, Tesoro keyboards features a build-in usb/audio/mic hub on the keyboard and it is usually located at the top right part of the keyboard but for the Excalibur line-up, it seems that the hub is gone. However, it looks like the Excalibur RGB Edition is still under the managements talk because our sample has the carvings of the hub itself. No matter what Tesoro decides, whether they put in the hub or not, the Excalibur is already a fine craft of art itself. If ever they decided to feature the hub for the RGB edition, I hope they make all the usb/mic/audio ports black to compliment the minimalistic and classic design of the keyboard.
The Excalibur RGB Edition does not feature a braided cable like most high-end mechanical gaming keyboard. It also doesn’t have any ferrite shield along the cable line that prevents any possible electric/data noise. The length of the cable is 1.55 meters.
The Excalibur RGB Edition feature a gold plated usb connector. However, as  we have mentioned to all usb devices. The usb being a gold plated does not improve the keyboards performance. It just adds up to the looks. What really matters when it comes to usb connections are the metals inside the usb port.
The Excalibur line-up will feature Kailh switches and they will be available in blue, red, and brown swtiches.
The Tesoro Excalibur RGB edition features six level of back-lit.
Level 1: Dimmest
Level 2: Medium
Level 3: Brightest
Level 4: Illuminating
Level 5: Game Mode 1
Level 6: Game Mode 2
